I am a relative down from the Levi Chipman line (his son Levi Jr). I have been working on the family tree, updating it and whatnot, and have a pretty extensive branch down the Levi Jr. line. There is a reunion the first weekend in August (Sunday August 8th). If you would like more information please contact me at my e-mail address (jdgrl87(a)hotmail.com)!!

Nathaniel Chipman is also my 4th great grandfather. Thanks to "Find A Grave" I found a photo of my 2nd great grand father
Edwin Chipman Cullen's headstone, in Texas, on their website. I had never heard the name Chipman used as a family name. I did an online research on Chipman and found an excerpt from the book you mention in your post. Amazing what you can find on the internet.

I am a desendant of John C Chipman (Chipley) (b1801), son of Daniel Chipman (b1729), son of Seth Chipman, etc all the way back to Hope Howland. In fact almost every Chipley from Mississippi has the same heritage. John C left New England about 1825 under some duress (either deserted Army or an Indenture)changed his name and got as far away as possible. However he continued to complete the Census forms with his real birthplace (Poland, Maine). He lied about being an orphan from Maine however there were no Chipley familes in Maine prior to 1900. My tree is public.

The first three children (the two stillborn in 1826 and Alonzo) of Ami Chipman and Ruth Wilson were born in New York, possibly Covington, Wyoming County. All of the others, Louisa in 1834 through Henry (second) in 1848, were born in Gustavus, Trumbull County, Ohio. Louisa died in Chicago, Illinois, on 2 January 1900, and I do not know where Alonzo died.

Hello Mark,
I think that we met a couple of years ago. Good to hear from you.
I keep going from this Samuel Chipman b. 1661, although we split our heredity line here. You come from Seth b. 1697 and I come from his brother Samuel, b 1689.
