Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Sorry that I have been so quiet of late but I just had to get on with some
household maintenance.
For those of you interested in CHILVERS in Norfolk you might like to know
that the Norfolk Transcription Archive is growing apace and may be searched
at http://www.genealogy.doun.org/transcriptions/index.php
I suppose that I should have checked sooner but I did a trawl for CHILDERS
in the 1901 census and came up with 48 records. Amongst these were some
"missing" CHILVERS and a have a strong suspicion that most of those recorded
are not CHILDERS at all. That is a rather rare surname in the UK but it
occurs more often in Ireland and there are many of them in the USA where
they have their own family history group. It appears to be from the same
root as CHILDERHOUSE.
