IRENE REGO CHILTON
June 3, 1908 ~ October 21, 2004
A 61 year resident of San Leandro,
passed away peacefully October 21, 2004
at the age of 96.
Her beloved husband, Clive Chilton,
and her cherished children, Colin Chilton and Anise Marsh, preceded her in death.
Irene was born in Wailuku, Hawaii and grew up in a happy, lively household filled with her five sisters and six brothers.
She wed Clive Chilton in relocated to California during WWII, and settled with their two children on Arroyo Ave. in 1943. They enjoyed their family, entertaining, and supporting their church. Later, Irene taught sewing and life skills to the disabled in Hayward. Since 1997, Irene lived at the Cherry Blossom Inn and enjoyed her independence and good health. Her favorite things included: root beer floats, good Chinese food, Bill King and the Oakland A's on the radio, and her nieces, nephews, and great grandchildren.
Her friends and family will miss her animated stories, warm hospitality, and generous spirit.
She is survived by a large extended family, including her grandchildren: Christopher Chilton of Merced, Kathleen Conner of Walnut Creek, John Marsh of Tampa, FL, Patrick Marsh of Honolulu, HI, and their families: Teri, Ethan, Colin, and Liam Chilton, Kenn, Kevin, and Megan Conner, and Leslie, Jim, and Graeme Marsh. A memorial mass in her honor will be held at St. Leander Catholic Church, 550 W. Estudillo Ave. in San Leandro on Wednesday, November 3rd at 1:30 pm.
