And thanks heaps for the information..
I would love anything you have on Johns siblings. I always found it sad how they lost the parents so young.
The Chilton name has been missed spelt and missed heard etc through loads of records I have them as Chillington and several variation... makes it hard to track but I can see the funny side as well...
Is there any connection between the Stone line and This one... I havent heard of Stone before...
Thanks again..
Kerrie

Hi, there's a death record for Joel Chilton in 1856 in Wolverhampton, which is just north of Sedgley, where he was living in 1851 along with wife Jane and their 9 children, including John Chilton and Richard. Jane Chilton died in 1852 in Dudley which is not far south of Sedgley. Their poor children were orphaned very young.
In the following census of 1861 all of Joel and Jane's children were alive. Some were married and had the younger siblings living with them and some were in lodgings. I'd be happy to send you the details of John Chilton's siblings if you like?
My Great-Great Grandmother was a Chilton from the Stone area of Staffordshire. Her name was spelled as Chelenton on her marriage certificate and Chikengton on one of the censuses. She must have had a very strong accent!
Zoe
