Hi Kesa,
Your John Chilton was brother to my gggrandfather Richard. They both lodged with the Bradley family and hence John's marriage to a daughter of the household. I do have further information going back and also an interesting pamphlet written by a Chilton about John and Susannah's journey to Oz. I have not come across John as being Chillington during my research.
Cathy

I am looking for any information about my grandmother, Mary Miller, nee Chilton. She was born about 1903, in Russell, NY, married Ernest Roy Miller in 1921, had 3 sons, Milford, Richard and Marlin. She died Dec 26, 1935. I would love to hear family stories about her, as I never knew her. She died when my dad was 4, so he had no memories either.

Hello,
George Chilton, Sr. did have a son named Thomas. It is hard to tell if it was your Thomas. I have a copy of George Chilton, Sr.'s will that I will be happy to share with you. George died in 1839 in Woodford Co., KY. His children are listed as Lucy, Eleaner, William, Thomas, Nancy, Sally, Polly, and George.
John Frederick Dorman wrote a series of articles titled The Chilton Familes of Verginia and Maryland, and published them in the "Virginia Genealogist" in the 1980s. He shows the ancestors of George Chilton, Sr., to be:
Thomas

I have now confirmed my ggg grandfather as a Chilton rather than a Shelton, through a copy of his will. Thomas was born 1777 in Virgina and died 1843 in Mercer Co. Kentucky. I have not confirmed through documents his parentage or his wives other than his last wife Elizabeth James m. 1837, who bore him three sons, Wm.b. 1839, Franklin b. 1840, and Berryman b. 1842. Does anyone have copies of wills or marriage records for Thomas' first marriages and who his parents were. Many claim George as his father with unknown mother, but would love to have hard evidence from Virginia. Most Chilton families who list a Thomas do not have his info. Medley Chilton b. 1827 son of Thomas is my gg grandfather.

Okay. Now I see your connection. Raleigh/Ralleigh Chilton born 1832 is a son of John Chilton b. about 1797, son of James Chilton whose Will is dated 22 July 1829 in Madison County, Missouri. My connection is Susan Sarah Chilton, daughter of James Chilton and Nancy Clark, who married Eleazer Green Clay and lived in St. Francois, Missouri. Susan is my great-grandmother. Send me an email outside of this service so I can attach a copy of the estate record I transcribed for James Chilton. My email address is "redwingersgen - at - earthlink.net."

Bill - I would be glad to share the estate records, but I do not recognize your names to confirm this is the right family tree for you. Please enter estimated dates of birth for your names, or explain your connection. I have a James Chilton b. about 1745 that married an Ann Unknown, but there would be no census late enough with her name. It may be necessary to read all posts in this thread to understand the tree. I know of no Indian links.
Janis

Hi Janis. My name is Bill schmidt (Chilton). I am also from this Chilton line. My father is William Earl Chilton, his Father Marshall Chilton, and his Father James chilton, married to Anna, Annie, or Susanna, depends on which census you look at. I would also like to know more about the old Chilton Estate. Also do know if we have any documented American Indian links? Thank you Bill.
