This is not my Chilton line, but I was reviewing HeritageQuest Online Revolutionary War pension records for Chilton. Wanted to let someone know the file of John Chilton of Fauquier Co Virginia, born 29 Aug 1739 died 9/11/1777 at Brandywine, has a copy of his Will in it. The names of his parents are not shown, but I believe the parents of John Chilton: Thomas Chilton; mother Jemima Cooke. Children mentioned in his Will include Thomas, Joseph, George, Lucy, Nancy and Charles as executor. A letter in back of file has the following: "John Chilton, of Fauquier County, Virginia, entered service early in 1776, as Captain in the 3rd Virginia Regiment and was killed in the battle of Brandywine, September 11, 1777. The age of this officer and the names of his parents are not shown. In August 1776, Captain John Chilton designated his son, Thomas to be the recipient of his surveying instruments. He designated one Charles Chilton to be one of the Executors of his will. Thomas Chilto!
n applied May 28, 1810 for the boundy land which was due himself and the other children of Captain John Chilton on account of his service and death in the Rev. War. - - - more - - -"
Hope this helps someone. HeritageQuest online is usually free access at local library.
