Hi
I was wondering if anyone can help me. My Gt Grandmother is Florence Chilton, whom on her marriage certificate it states that her father is Charles Chilton. But on doing research it looks like her father could be John Chilton married to Elizabeth Kirk. The details I have is as follows:
Florence Chilton born about 1882, Derby, Derbyshire, England.
She's down on 1901 census as living with her mother, Elizabeth and brother William,
She married Alfred Bertram Warren in 1902, father down as Charles Chilton.
On 1911 census Florence is with her husband Alfred.
On 1911 census, the mother, Elizabeth, is living with her 2 sons, William and Joseph
I've done some research and the only family I could find with William and Joseph as children and Elizabeth as the mother is John Chilton married to Elizabeth Kirk. They have more children, one of them being an Elizabeth Chilton, who later married Joseph Kiddie, and is the one who was the informant on the death certificate of Florence Eliza Warren, nee Chilton, in 1938, in Widnes, where they both moved to.
To make things even more confusing, John Chilton, on tracing him back, was born in 1847, Wednesbury, Staffordshire, he died before 1891, On 1851 census he's down as John with his parents, and on the 1871 census is down as James Chilton, married to Elizabeth, then again on 1881 as John with Elizabeth as his wife.
So now I have got a Florence Chilton, born 1882 in Derby, married to Alfred Bertram Warren in 1902, died in 1938 and her father is either James, John or Charles.
Thank you
Susan New
