I thought I would update this thread. I have verified that the William Edmonds in Howard County was indeed tied to Mark Chilton going back to Kanawha CO. VA (now WVA) and back to Fauquier County. The William Edmonds in Howard County and James Henry Edmonds in Cooper County were not brothers (although James Henry did have a brother William). They were Cousins of some degree. I have found a series of letters from Octavia Blackwell Chilton, Betsey Blackwell Edmonds and her husband James Henry Edmonds back to Octavia and Betsey's mother, sister and brother (Elizabeth Edmonds Blackwell, Jane Blackwell and James DeRuyter Blackwell) living in Fauquier County VA. I am still trying to find the right branch of the Fauquier Edmonds that William belongs to.

I believe you have some information that might require a little more
research. James Chilton, the son of Thomas and Sapphira Chilton, was born
in 1796. He would have been to young to have married the same year. This
James Chilton stayed in Jefferson County, Tennessee and married Jane
Langdon. He died October 30, 1858 in Jefferson County, Tennessee.
The James Chilton you are referring to was born in 1775 in Maryland, married
in 1796 and died in Missouri in 1929. I have not updated it for some time
but you can find additional information for the Chiltons on my website at:

James Chilton of Wayne County, Mo was married to Mary Ann Thompson at the
dwelling house of William Thompson of Madison County on March 21, 1841.
This is in the Madison County marriage records.
Mary Ann was born about 1825 in Kentucky. James was born November 25, 1820
in Missouri. They have many many descendants. I would be interested if
anyone knows the death dates for James or Mary Ann and where they are
buried. I have James dying before 1870 and am assuming I didn't find him in
that census.

Hi - I believe John Chilton to be the oldest son of James Chilton and Nancy Clark. I have no marriage record for John Chilton to Lydia Landon, but I have an estimate date of around 1828. John Chilton received some money in estate of his father James in 1830 & 1843. The estate process went on for a long time. It was noted later that his wife Lydia completed estate process for him (John)in Nov 1846 when John was deceased. He probably died about 1845.
