My daughter is a descendant of Mary Chilton and John Winslow as well and I was reading all the messages on the board and noticed yours. I am confused though as my records indicate James Latham married Deliverance Alger. You state he married I believe Ann Latham. Do you have anything or know anything about Deliverance Alger?
I noticed you sent your message back in 2000 so I don't know if you will get this message but if you do, would appreciate a reply
Thanks

Barbara Jane Vineyard Chilton was my great aunt. Her brother Martin b.1861 was my grandfather. I would be very interested in knowing when the Chilton family moved to Oklahoma and some of the details of their life there. Was it still Indian territory/ Were they farmers? What drew them to Oklahoma? How many children did they have. I would be thankful for any information you could give me. Thank you.

I am trying to find any info on CHARLES ARTHUR CHILTON.
I know he stated his occupation as Army in 1859
In 1884 on his daughters marriage certificate he was stated as being married to Caroline Lee and his occupation was Captain NEJC.
It is likely he came from the US as his daughter stated she was born in New York, USA and he was possibly in the US army as no information can be found of him in UK records.

Georgina F A Chilton married Leslie N Burt in 1920 quarter 4, Dover, Kent Registration District. This would make her 60 years of age and reverting to her maiden name. Getting the marriage certificate would prove one way or the other.
There is no entry in the General Register Office indexes for Chilton to match her birth, supporting the view that she was born outside England.
There is also no suitable GRO entry relating to Charles Arthur Chilton, suggesting that he married Caroline Lee outside England and died outside England. With Georgina being baptised in 1859, Charles' birth would have been pre civil registration.
