Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
I have great news. The price of the kits dropped today!!!! Can you belive this??? Some days

There is a much better explanation for what these numbers mean if you check out the VERY bottom
of the web page below and see the chart the Walker Line has. Basically, the numbers are very
important. If you are looking for a common ancestor connection in the early US it has to be a
complete 12 for 12 match. A 10 for 12 match takes you back 61 to 144+ generations for a common
ancestor.

Another is concerning privacy. If you do not want your name known as the DNA provider, there
are steps taken everywhere to prevent that.

A few months ago, frustrated in my own research, I started this FamilyTree DNA project to see
how the Shelton line and it's various spellings according to Margaret Whitaker would turn out.
So far it has been a slow but revealing start using only Shelton surnames. After only four DNA
tests, it appears there are at least two separate documented Shelton lines from the 1700's. The
third Shelton line has not been documented past 1804.
Current results of the this DNA project show:
SH-1 Zebedee Shelton b 1804, Grainger, TN d Ore.
5 9 5 6 6 8 5 4 5 5 7 5
SH-2 Ralph and Mary Crispin Shelton Pittslyvania, VA, b 1685 > Daniel b1729
5 8 6 6 3 8 5 4 4 6 7 6
SH-3 James Knox Polk Shelton b 1845 TN, d TX
5 8 6 6 3 8 5 4 4 6 7 6
SH-4 Samuel Shelton b 1703 Louisa, VA > Joseph b 1758
5 8 5 6 5 8 5 4 4 6 7 6
I welcome those of you with spellings that have been confused with Shelton in the past to join
this DNA testing. If you wish to conduct your own study, I will understand. Most DNA testing
labs now publish their results so comparisons can be made. I do feel it's important to make sure
first it is compatible with this project, as it is in the interests of all our lines. Even the
Shelton line at times confuses the different spellings as past published genealogical mistakes
are hard to correct, as we all know.
Currently the price for a DNA test kit is $199. I have 5 kits available at that price, but when
they are gone, the price will go back to the current price of $219. If this price is out of
your reach you may consider sharing the cost with one or more cousins in your proven line to
reduce each individual's cost. Results take about 7 weeks.
This is a Y Chromosome cheek swab test. That means it only works if the person being tested is
a male with a current last name of one of those listed in the subject line:
SHELTON/SKELTON/CHILTON/SHELDON A kit is mailed to your home, you scrape cells from your
cheek into a container and mail it on to Family Tree DNA. Again, if you don't have a direct
line male descendant, you may offer to pay or share payment for a direct line male who
qualifies, such as a cousin, in your proven line to test for you. I am sorry, but a female
descendant of any kind will not work for a Y chromosome test.
If you don't fit into a known line, the test will indicate if you are related to someone else
who also did not fit into a line. There is also the possibility that you could get
disappointing information, such as a broken link which would suggest an unreported adoption or
other non-paternal event in your line.
For more information you might check out these web pages. There are also more links listed on
them.

fast-spreading e-mail worm, possibly from Japan, is encircling the globe and
flooding e-mail servers with excessive messages.
Fbound (w32.fbound.c@mm, also known as Zircon.C, DotJayPee, Fbound.b) is 12,288
bytes in length, and, unlike other recent worms, does not install itself on the
infected machine but instead runs from memory. Mac and Linux users are not
affected.
Fbound is capable of sending large amounts of e-mail but does not damage or
delete files on the infected computer. Because of the increasing reports of this
worm around the world, Fbound currently ranks a 6 on the ZDNet Virus Meter.
How it works
Fbound arrives by e-mail with the subject line "Important." If the recipient's
computer language is set to Japanese or if the recipient's e-mail address ends
with .jp, the subject line is chosen from 16 Japanese-language subject lines
contained within the worm. There is no body text associated with this worm. The
attached file is named patch.exe.
If the attached file is opened, Fbound locates the infected user's SMTP server
and e-mail address. Then the virus loads itself into memory and sends copies of
itself to addresses found in the Windows Address Book.
Unlike many worms, Fbound doesn't install itself on an infected computer, nor
does it add or change any registry files. Once the worm has been run, it will
not run again. Because Fbound encodes all of its code into one line and does not
comply with SMTP encoding, it may sometimes bounce e-mails it sends or arrive as
a noninfectious e-mail.
Code within Fbound contains the following message: "I-Worm.Japanize."
Prevention
Users of Microsoft Outlook 2002 and users of Outlook 2000 who have installed the
Security Update should be safe from the attached EXE file in Fbound.
Users who have not upgraded to Outlook 2002 or who have not installed the
Security Update for Outlook 2000 should do so.
In general, do not open e-mail attachments without first saving them to hard
disk and scanning them with updated antivirus software. Contact your antivirus
vendor to obtain the most current antivirus signature files that include Fbound.
Removal
Almost all of the antivirus software companies have updated their signature
files to include this worm. This will stop the infection upon contact and in
some cases will remove an active infection from your system. For more
information, see Central Command, Computer Associates, F-Secure, Kaspersky
(known here as Ziron.c),McAfee, Norman, Panda, Sophos, Symantec (known as
Dotjaypee), and Trend Micro (known here as Fbound.b).
Does anyone's research include a John Chilton born 1830 in Amershan,
Buckingham-Shire, England? He died in 1868 in a railroad accident in
London. His wife's name was Amelia born 1833 in Springfield, Essex and
died in London.
They had at least one son, John born 2/20/1855 in Ingatestone, Essex,
England. John, the son, migrated to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, US in
1888 with his wife Anna Frost who was born in Poplars, London. Anna was
born 1/6/1862 and died 12/13/1929 in Tullytown, Pennsylvania, US. They
had 5 children: Anna Gertrude Chilton Gilbert, John Alexander Chilton,
Herbert Horace Chilton, Florence Amelia Chilton Ford and Charles Henry
Ford.
The next generation included Anna Gilbert, Jean Gilbert, Edith (?)
Gilbert, John Chilton, Marie Chilton, Dorothy Chilton, Joyce Chilton,
Edith Chilton, Florence Ethel Ford, Gladys Annabelle Ford Power, Grace
Eleanor Ford Cash, Elizabeth Chilton and Margaret Chilton.
I would appreciate any information - especially a month and day for John
Chilton's death in 1868 in London.
Thanks,
Joy
I wish to know if this is genuine message before I open. Can you please
confirm?
Thank you, Geoff
