There is a good possibility that Virginia Lee Hutcheson Davis will speak at the reunion. Mrs. Davis is a Walter Chiles descendent and eminent Chiles genealogist, author of two volumes of Tidewater Virginia Families. We will update this posting with later information regarding her appearance.

Message Board Post:
As you may know, this year marks the 400th anniversary of the settlement of Jamestown, the first permanent English colony in America. To celebrate the occasion, some of the descendants of Walter Chiles I of Jamestown are planning a reunion of Walter's descendants on July 28-29 in Williamsburg and Jamestown, Virginia.
We have rented the very nice Williamsburg Community Building right in downtown Williamsburg and have made catering arrangements for a reasonably-priced dinner, all included in the $40 per adult charge. Children are welcome and there is a large grassy area for them to play in. Lorelei Redmond, a fellow descendant, and I are going to put together a PowerPoint presentation about the Walter Chiles story. I suspect people will love the trip out to Jamestown Island on Sunday, where we will visit the site of the Kemp House, which Walter purchased in 1648-49, and the new plaque with his name included in the narrative. A National Park ranger will give us a tour of the site. We can also look at the nearby archaeology dig at the original 1607 Jamestown Fort--this is before Walter's time, but still fascinating.
If you would like genealogical information about Walter Chiles I and his descendants, please let me know.
I hope you won't miss this opportunity to learn more about our family's past and meet cousins at the same time!
