Trying to straighten out my Carrs and the possible Chiles conncetion.
My line to the Carr family is:
Myself
My parents
Benj. Franklin Farrar & Iola Perry
Charles Clark Farrar & Lillie Maupin
James Rosser Maupin & Lucy A. Maupin (a cousin)
Rice Maupin & Mary "Polly" Anderson Carr
Meekins Carr & Nancy Wood
Gideon Carr & Susannah X
These people I have proof for. There is a St. Peter's Parish doc. in New Kent Co. that states Gideon Carr is the son of William Carr:
"Gideon son of Mr. Wm Carr born January ye 1st & bapt. Feb'y ye 8th, 1712"
Unfortunately, the wife is not mentioned. There is a book "Tidewater Virginia Families" by Mrs. Davis, that mentions a Chiles/Carr family connecton. William Carr m. to ____ Chiles, the daughter of John Chiles.
I am trying to determine if the William Carr who baptized his son Gideon Carr is the same William Carr that married the daughter of John Chiles. If anyone has entered a lineage society such as The Jamestowne Society by way of Carr/Chiles, would love to hear from you.
Thank you in advance,
Sherry Mason

"The Kansas City Star" (Missouri) Thursday, September 14, 1893
DIED BY HIS OWN HAND.
Oliver J. HALLAR, aged 49 years, a member of an old Jackson county
family, shot himself at his room, 201 East Seventh street, at 11 o'clock
last night, and died at the city hospital at 11 o'clock this forenoon.
HALLAR lately became a partner of W. A. ROLES in a commission
business at 117 East Fourth street. It is said that his suicide was directly
the result of the refusal of a woman of his acquaintance to become his wife.
His life had not been a happy one. Some ten or a dozen years ago he
killed his wife and her paramour in Pueblo, Col., and was acquitted after a
trial for murder. Last night he told Police Surgeon IUEN that he wanted to
die, but refused to give a reason for his wish. He is a brother of R. C.
HALLAR, of the firm of Federmann & Hallar, druggists at 908 Main street;
of E. C. HALLAR of Blue Springs and of Washington HALLAR of
Independence. Coroner Langsdale will not hold an inquest.
"The Kansas City Journal" (Missouri) Saturday, September 16, 1893

The funeral of Oliver J. HALLAR, who shot himself at 117 East Fourth
street, Kansas City, Wednesday, took place yesterday morning from
the residence of his sister, Mrs. C. C. CHILES. The funeral was private.

were buried in the city cemetery.
