James "Darius" Childress
James Darius Childress, 80, of St. Albans, died Friday, Nov. 23, 2001, at CAMC General Hospital after a short illness.
He was retired from the Kanawha County Board of Education; was a member of the Marlaing Church of Christ, St. Albans; and an Army veteran of World War II, where he was in the Tank Corps with the 13th Armored Division, attached to Patton's Third Army Division. He was a 32nd degree Mason, and a member of the Beni Kedem Shrine.
He is survived by his wife, Emma Lee Baker Childress; two sons, and daughters-in-law, Neil and Donna Childress of Middleburg, Fla., Roger L. and Sharon K. Childress of Alum Creek, W.Va.; one brother, Glenn Childress of St. Albans, W.Va.; grandchildren, Jeramie, Darin and Shannon Childress, and Crystal Mahon; 12 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, at 2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 26, 2001, with Pastor Darrell Bledsoe officiating. Burial will be held in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.
