Hi Mary,
It seems from your postings that you are looking for any of your living
relatives. When I read your postings I assumed you might be adopted or
separated from your closest family members.

Announcement from Rootsweb:
Rootsweb has "GenConnect boards" http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/ which is a
new expansion area for Rootsweb where genealogical documents and other
information can be posted... If anyone posts to the GenConnect Boards that
will generate some sort of message to our Childress-L and Childress-D mail
lists... so we all will be kept informed automatically. Therefore,
Rootsweb announced to all listowners today that we may be seeing a new type
of message showing up on this mail list (somebody run over there and post
something on the GenBoards and lets see what it looks like).
Thanks

I am descended from the Kanawha County Childress but do not have any
information on Ann Childress b. 1780's or 1790's. I am real interested in
any Kanawha County Childress information.
Thanks,

I agree with Redd Rooster, if there is a connection, it has to be on a
lateral plane.
Show you how much a person doesn't know.... I was raised in OK, just a wee
bit north of Claremore OK where Will Roger's Museum is, and I did not know
he was a Cherokee Indian. So many of my school mates were Cherokee, I simply
did not make any distinction as to their ethnic origin.
My husband raised the question....where did the Indians get their last
names? Did it happen as with the slaves who took their master's last name
or did they simply like the name and use it?

I just got an email for Sandra Duncan... I know her best by her e-mail
handle purplevw(a)sl.net that you can find on various Internet sites where she
has left postings about her Childress research. In her e-mail to me she
wrote the following:
"PLEASE BE AWARE THAT DUE TO A MASSIVE STROKE 10/25/98 I TYPE WITH ONE
HAND,SO FORGIVE THE TYPOS & IF I WRITE IN ALL CAPITALS IT IS NOT SHOUTING

This is the first I have become aware of her struggle.
She was a subscriber to this Mail List for a while and then dropped off. If
any of you want to send her a message and thank her for her Childress and
other Genealogy research she is home today at her computer.
