Hi List
My computer, using win 95, had a two digit year. After adding the fix that
Microsoft made available the year was 4 digit and when I rolled the setting to
2000, the calendar month for July 2000 came up. I check what next years July
looked like and found it to be correct. I checked to find out what the year
1900 would look like and it was in fact different than July 2000. Without the
fix, I assume I would have rolled over to the 1900 calendar. In case some one
did not get the fix site address, I have attached it again.

up down in the valley below Barnes.
I would not pay much attention to the spelling of Childress or Childers or
whatever. My family name is spelled Edgin, Agent, Edgen and Edging in
Franklin County.

Hi list
I got this off my Fox list and the attached message has the location
for the Microsoft fix for Y2K. It is a free down load from Microsoft.
It is not busy now but I bet it will be very busy in 5 months. It took
only about 10 minutes to download; eventhough, it said it would take
about 31 min. How about that, something free from Bill Gates.
Jay Childress
Eldon,
There were two complete different sets of Childers living on the same Mt. in.
Ark.
Do you know where Barnes is North of Ozark? the Post Office was named for my
grandfather William Andrew Barnes.
Now my grandfather Thomas Jefferson Childress, was Childress in Ala., in
Tenn. in 1860, he was T.J. Childers, and all of the Children of that marriage
spelled the name thus, and the desendants still do. Then when he married my
grandmother Sarah Jane Anderson in Franklin Co., Ark. it was back to
Childress . At least one brother was married in Franklin Co., the name was
Childers on the Cert. Some sisters married there. The name was spelled
Childers.
I think Miles Childers was the ancester of the other Childers group. He was
from Ky.
I know I ramble around, sometimes I mix myself up. But in the end I seem to
get someplace.
Did you ever know a James Austin Childress.? He was my 1/2 uncle.
Bonnie
Please let me know if you have any luck.
Thanks,

Sorry for the slip up, I knew John was supposed to have been born in Va.,
guess my mind was thinking of the family having been in N.C. at one time.
Have learned that Joel and Nancy both died in Ozark, Franklin, Ark. in Dec.
of 1962.
So that would mean they must have left Ala., late 1860, or early 1861. I
doubt if they traveled that far after the War started.
Several relatives were already in Ark.

Hi Again
I noted your posting on Rootsweb and thought I would send you a direct
comment.
If Joels father was John son of John, 1759, then he would need to be born in VA.
As John, 1759, was in TN by c1795-96, and as he was, based on his pension
statement, only in VA for 7-9 years, a son John would have been born in VA. At
least that is the way it looks to me.

Would someone in the Madison Heights, Virginia area look up an obituary for
me? I need the obit for Edward Childress, born 1 Nov 1912, died July 1985 in
Madison heights Virginia. I believe he may be my Father.
Thanks,
Bill Childress
Monroe's father Joel was supposed to have been born in Knox Co.in 1798. He
married Nancy Clark., who was born in Va.
I'm not sure at this point who Joel's father was, but some say John Childress
and Mary Kirby.
John may have been born inN.C.
Take care and happy hunting,
Bonnie,
