Warren Forsythe for database townsendthos at http://wc.rootsweb.com
Virginia Childers Hanks born 1923 came up to Ellensburg WA Selah Stake LDS family history center on her senior bus 2 weeks ago. That led to searching what little evidence exists for possible ancestors ofher Henry Childers. Mostly we got the one or two pieces of evidencemore organized and more prominent on my websitecompendium of readily available early Childers trees I copied from other people.http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=REG&db=townsend... the process, Virginia loaned me a 1994 publication I had not seen before, many Virginia Childress/Childrey/Childers wills from early to about 1833compiled by Childers / Childress family Assn. It transcribes (by typists not very familiar with colonialhandwriting) verbatim, usually with no interpretation, or minimal help on identities. So I tried to include most family tree infofrom there that I had not previously compiled. So a few more early Childers peoplecan now be found onhttp://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.co!
m/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=REG&db=townsendthos&id=I4552but my tree is even more of a non-comprehensive mess than previously--because identities of colonists can be compiled 3 separate times with such differentfirst names and places and relationships-that I have not been able to merge theduplicate identities, nor been able to put them with the proper parents. So there's two many fragments of trees. Someday after I'm gone it'd be nice for someoneto actually research how to merge identities and put people with proper parents. But unfortunately I don't have time for that, nor documents readily available to methat would be needed to do a good job.-So I've tried to include early Childers/Childress/Childrey family tree fragments on my database, especially all useful tree connections directly pertaining to Colonial Virginia. So under the surname spelling CHILDERS, we can search by first name and find whichpeople have readily available tree information. If there records are found more underC!
HILDRESS [I changed CHILDRES to CHILDRESS] (or rarely CHILDREY), then
I have usually cross listedthem under that other spelling, but the CHILDRESS list is not comprehensive, just somealternate surname spellings for the main CHILDERS alphabetical listing by first name.-I usually cite where I obtained the family tree connections from, but my database is weak ontaking the reader directly to original documents. I began 10 years ago just try to make a computerizedlist alphabetized-by-first-name - of all the Childers individuals that Virginia had on her paperfamily group sheets. That's my main emphasis still, but I've added family treeswithout talking to Virginia about them-and maybe that's a major reason why my treeis less integrated and comprehensive?~~Tuck Warren Forsythe for database townsendthos at http://wc.rootsweb.com
