Justin,
As you know, my Childress family lived in Lunenburg County, VA. Jeremiah
Childress Sr. was granted land in Lunenburg, 400 acres. He left a will dated
1791 and he left the land to three sons and a grandson. Benjamin
Childress, William Childress, Jeremiah Childress, Jr. and the grandson and my
ancestor, Benedict (Richard) Childress. I've only found two documents on those
I've named. Jeremiah Sr. and his grandson's 1794/5 inventory. I'm sure there
were many others, probably destroyed as so much was, during all the wars and
natural disasters.
I've been discussing my family with a fellow member of CRL and she believes
my Benedict was the son of William Childress, son of Jeremiah Sr. Since
Benedict named his first son William, thats a great possibility. No wills for
any William have I ever found in Lunenburg nor in Charlotte County.
Keep us posted on what you may find and I'll do the same. Thanks.

Hi,
I was wondering if anybody out there knows about any male Childresses that
died between 1805 and 1830 in Charlotte County Virginia.
As an aside, I urge every Childress who has roots in Charlotte County to
please take the DNA test. There are a lot of Childress families that are
unaccounted for in Charlotte county and paper records haven't seemed to make the
connection between all of them. By taking the DNA test through
familytreedna, you would be helping all of the Childress researchers whose families come
from the Charlotte/Lunenberg County areas.
