Subject: Childress genealogy
Dear Childress Researcher,
Although I know this is not your direct line, I wonder if you could help me or put me on the right track. In 1789 and 1790 John and Thomas Childress were placed under the guardianship of their uncle Joseph Drury. This was in Bedford County, Va. I understand their mother was Elizabeth (Betty) Wiggington Childress and that she was the sister of Joseph Drury's wife (Sybil Wiggington). Apparently Joseph and Sybil Drury raised these two boys and after Joseph died around 1805, I know that Thomas went across the mountains with Sybil Drury and her family. Does any of this ring a bell? I have often wondered about the families of these two boys who kept the name Childress. I wonder if any descendants are looking for them?
I look forward to your reply.
