Con,
I may not settle this but I do want to tell you a story about another family
line of mine and how things can be twisted with a small grain of truth in
them.
My Paternal Grandmother was a Wallin from walker County, GA. In 1930 another
member of the family wrote a detail memo concerning the family of
Wallin/Wallen/Waldens
In this memo he stated that our ancestor William came to America in 1745 and
that listed his children and Grandchildren.
For a long time this was accepted as fact in our family..........until I
started digging in the family tree roots!
The was totally made up by this gentleman as our William was not born until
1778 in Lee County, VA. His memo was actually off by more than 100 years as
our first documented Wallin Ancestor came in 1623 aboard the ship Anne, one
of the 4 Mayflower ships!
He did however, have the children and Grandchildren correct and he also had
true information concerning where our family settled in Walker County, GA.
This very argument was brought up time and time again on the other Childress
-L list and it never got resolved. I just feel that we all need to be open
minded and explore all possibilities.
The Childress bunch are indeed hard nuts to crack and I for one want to here
all theories no matter how far out they may seem.
Just food for thought Love
Linda Sue
