30 March 2015 from Warren "Tuck" Forsythe - genealogy126 (at) fairpoint.net
-
my database townsendthos at http://wc.rootsweb.com is mostly just a
digitization of the
4 decades of Childers/Childress research (on paper family group records) by
Virginia Childers Hanks who lives a half mile from me.
-

-
The bad news is that the most ambitious members from 10 years ago are
deceased or too old to have much ambition.
But they'd probably be happy to have you inject some youthful energy to pump
up the Childers.Childress Family Assn
~~W. Forsythe
see my Childers descendancy at
http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=REG&db=townsendthos&id...
if you keep click on the youngest descendants there and then click on
REGISTER again at top of page,
sometimes there's more modern descendants who are not displayed in the
initial ancient descendancy
you can also click on INDEX to look alphabetically,
but I tried to use CHILDERS as surname for most people;
so that the index would be searchable just by FIRST NAME, without knowing
which surname spelling their records were under
-
Some later Childress families are also , or only , listed under Childress
spelling

My paternal grandfather, Bryant Childers, was the son of Babe Childers. So Babe was my great grandfather; I have a photo and he looked like he was a character! Babe's dad, also Drury/Drewery, was called "DC". Then the direct line gets "questionable". I presume DC's father was Francis W. Childress and his father, Thomas Childress; not sure though.
