Thank you for your quick response. These are not the Childers I am looking
for. Martha's father was John Childers and he was married to Ursula Demoss.
Thank you so much.

I have Emeline "Emily" Childers, b. 1831, married to Wm Hiram "Bill" Griffis
in 1856, Fentress, Tennessee. They both died in Stearns, McCreary Co., KY.
My records show only 1 marriage for each. John Childers was Emeline's
father, b. 1791, NC, m. Rhoda "Rhodie" in Ashe, NC, u/k date. He was also
married to Elizabeth Smith , assumed to be after death of Rhodie. Any of
these fit in? Thanks.

UPDATE: It now appears that the Henry Childers who married Susannah Goolsby was PROBABLY a son of John Childers and Mary (shown as Elizabeth by some) Royal. That John Childers was a son of Thomas Childers (married Mary Cannon, Mary Holmes and/or Mary Milner). DNA testing makes this lineage seem more likely than for the Henry Childers who married Susannah to have been the son of Henry Childers and Mary Farmer.
The above Thomas Childers and John Childers were out of Philemon Childers "I," while the above Henry Childers who married Mary Farmer was out of Abraham Childers "I." I still see no proof that Pleasant Childers, Senior (who married a Miss Jeffries) was positively a son of Henry Childers and Susannah Goolsby, but that lineage would not surprise me. Mosby Childers (who also married a Miss Jeffries) was apparently out of the line of Abraham Childers "I" (per both documentation and DNA testing).

Cheryl, I am Ted Childers and Jacob, 1762-1844, was my earliest ancestor that I have been able to document. I have been working with other family members on the Childers/ress DNA Project. If by chance you are not familiar with it recommend that you google it. We are hoping to connect everyone in the clan, such as Jacobs ancestors, back to the earliest documented family member. Ted
