Yes, it could very well be his line, but they cannot be located after that
1840 census. Until I can locate
Alford or his parents in 1850, I'm out of luck trying to tie our line to any
ancestors. I'm beginning to think
LC took off for the gold rush:) Thanks so much for helping, I appreciate
your kindness.

I did a search on Ancestry and some one has Alford's dad is also an Alford.
There is a 1840 census for Alfred (Alford)Lower Regiment, Lincoln, North
Carolina with a son under 5, can not theat possibley be the father? This is
not
my line, but I like trying to help. Another person has this name as his
father.
Alford "Alcy" Childers

Death 1885 in Clarksville, Red River, Texas

He was born 1837, Lincoln County, NC. I cannot locate him until 1860 when he is in Lamar County, TX. Family lore says he came on a wagon train from Tennessee and became separated from a younger brother during the trip. His father's name was LC Childers, his mother was Emley Harrington. I cannot locate LC or his wife at any time other than family oral history. I cannot find Alford before 1860. Does the wagon train story sound even vaguely familiar to anyone? As the story goes, Emley returned to Ireland to visit and died while she was there. LC showed up in Clarksville, TX for a visit and died unexpectedly. Alford's 1st wife (Hulen) died very young, his 2nd wife, Lucinda Osborne, married Alford in Titus County, TX...1866.
I cannot find a lead on these family members and I wonder if "LC" is a derivative or nickname! Can anyone help?

I have his parents as James Franklin and Ellen Parker Childers. I found a book written by Christine Childers Prather who said his parents she believed were Robert Franklin (Robert and Pati's son) and Melissa Mullinax. I have talked with her and she stated she had a lot of help with the book and these was a culmination of all their research using newspapers, interviews, and this information came from his grandaughter Mae Childers Parks. (who I also do not have listed). Does anyone have any information which can unclog me? Thanks
