Peggy,
There are several variations of the Childers Coat of Arms, I have a copy of the original somewhere, but Lord knows how long it will take me to find it in the mess I have right now. I will email a picture of the closest resemblence I found on the internet. It's not exact, but it is close.
The CofA has a red cross with a buckle in each of the four quadrants as well as an extended hand at the top of the shield holding another buckle. The shield, which a knight would have carried, only showed the cross with the four buckles. When I come accross my copy of the original, I'll scan it and email it yo you.

Yup, we're related! :) I remember Gloria well, but I was very young then. After Bob & Gloria split up, Bob came to live with us for a while. He and my step father started a buisness called K-C (Kennelly/Childers) Litho Screen. A few months after Bob moved in with us, he started dating a gal named Ellie, but I am not sure if they were ever married. A few years later he moved to Peoria near his brother Owen and worked as a mail carrier for several years.
I am starting to get some info on the Childers on Ancestry, but it is a slow process as I am also doing my mothers family (Jewett) and am working with over 500 people currently to gather information. If I have a date listed in my Ancestry, it is verified date, otherwise it will be listed as 'abt'. Going through some of the info on Ancestry that others have done, there is a lot of wrong information & dates on many of the trees. That's why I never 'copy' their information unless they have documented proof attached.
I am the 'Jim' Warren Jr is referring to in his message, Warren's brother.

James Curtis Childers and Elizabeth Allgood are my great great grandparents. Their son, William Fletcher Childers and Mary Josephine Green are my great grandparents.
Their daughter, Lue Elen Childers and John Douglas Brisco are my grandparents. Their daughter, Mollie Belle Brisco and James Arthur Sandlin are my parents. There needs to be a correction in The Edward Allgood Family genealogy account.
George Alford Brisco, my mother's brother, was born July 7, 1909, not Nov 8, 1889. He died Nov 8, 1989 in Brazoria Co, TX. Email me at: osparks(a)gvec.net
I will be happy to share the information I have on the Childers and Brisco families.

shows some similar Albemarle Co VA and Buckingham Co VA Childers families and their probable GENERAL type of ancestry in Virginia, but unfortunately still in 2011 no exact parents for Pleasant Childers have been identified that I'm aware of

I have seen Jesse and Patterson Childers in Pendleton Dist. S.C. I have a great grandmother named Mary Ann Childers who was a widow of some named Childers. Mary Ann and her first husband had one son named John Childers. John was born in ca. 1845. In 1850 Mary Ann has a new husband named James Marion Reeves b. 1823 in Georgia. John Childers is in the home with them in the 1850 census. I know that John Childers lived to adulthood and had at least one daughter, Nannie. I have a little more on her with another contact in my family.
What I need is the maiden name of Mary Ann before her marriage to a Childers and the given name of her husband who was a childers.
Mary Ann and James Marion Reeves were in GWinnett Co. GA. in 1850 with a son of their own named Littleton who would have been born about 1848.
A number of Reeves men were in Pendleton Dist. S.C.about 1800 as neighbors like Fuller, McCoy, Thompson, and others. These married into each others families and I need to learn more about Them.
In Pendleton Dist. S.C. I am especially interested in a couple named John Reeves and his wife Sarah.
My oldest ancestor proven is Thompson Reeves b. 1799 in Ga. and his wife Lucinda Rilla "Cinderella" b. 1800
Any help will be appreciated. Thank you
