Looking for information on Luther Molver Childers, born 1876 in Tipah Co, Miss. to Stephen Harrison and Linnie Griffin Childers. He married May Capt, probably in Texas. Found him on the 1920 census in Elmer, OK., occupation listed as banker. His undated obituary (Southern Sentinel, Tippah Co.) says he died in Tipton, OK, which is where his brother Dr. Joe Childers lived. (Family history indicates that his death was the result of an accident with a train.) His father died in 1824, and Luther is not listed as a survivor, so I believe his death was likely between 1920 and 1924, which mean he would have been in his early 40s at his death.

That is so true, that people way back sometimes denied that they were part
Indian. My own grandmother was offered a land grant in Okla. She refused
it, because she did not want to admit that she was part Indian. Her picture
tells the true story. We really believe that she was 1/2.

You are shooting in the dark. You are not likely to find any useful information with this line of inquiry. The chances of someone knowing something and reading your post are slim.
Go buy you a book on tracing your family history. It's not that hard. Get your father's death certificate from Florida. It will probably tell you his birth date, birth place and his parents names. From there, you just keep working back. You use death certificates, birth certificates, census records, land records, wills and tax records.
The chances of you actually being able to prove Indian ancestry are remote. It's not that you really didn't have Indian ancestors. Many of us did. However, most of our ancestors just moved to a remote area and bought or homesteaded land and played like they weren't Indians. They just "didn't talk about it". Those kinds of stories were kept inside the family. So, there's no record they were Indians.
The only records for most "proveable" Indians are the ones who went to reservations. The rest of us are just Americans.
Barbara

I am a proven descendant of Jacob Childers (born 1762 in Virginia/ died 1844 in South Carolina). I have researched his family blood line for 20 years and have a data base of direct descendants of 4100 relatives. The related lines, wives, husbands and their parents total 14,000 all in one data base. If you are related to this line, chances are that I am aware of you. My request now is to add your children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and your family if I have missed them. I prefer to do this by direct E-mail and I will answer and if possible share information with anyone in this line. One other thing that I am interested in is that some researchers have tied or attempted to tie Jacob Childers to the Thomas Childers family line. I have never found anything that relates these two families. I would be interested in what proof you might have. My E-mail is jchild3400(a)bellsouth.net
