My line comes from Benjamin Childers. His brother was William. They lived in St. Joseph, Missouri. I have never found a positive for the indian blood. If you do, please let me know. The Childers family used the same first names over and over from generation to generation.

Note: Dulcenia could have been an Arrowood or Erwood. In the 1860 York County Federal census, the Arrowoods lived in the dwelling next door to John and Dulcenia. Rosana Arrowood listed herself as a widow with several children living in her household. Dulcenia is listed in the 1860, 1870 and the 1880 York County Federal census records. She applied and received a widow's pension for the services her husband performed during the Civil War. She was listed as a York County Pensioner in the Yorkville Enquirer on June 5, 1889. I don't know if I can help here or not but I have some pictures that may make a connection for you. I will give you the written information at this point and will try to figure out how to attach them later if you think they are a connection.
I have on of the Shott family. As listed on the picture which I am guessing to be about 1900 there is Wm., Dad, Uncle Ned, Uncle Doug, Aunt Becky, Aunt Martha, Aunt Julia and Aunt Kate Childers (Nellies mother). Another picture about same time frame Aunt Kate and Uncle Bryant Childers. I have one of Minnie, who I believe to be Mary Thornleys daughter along with her husband and daughter. There is also one ofMr & Mrs David Iricks, Ora Iricks father and mother. These pictures are all in great shape.

Message Board Post:
I am trying to find information on the Frances Childers - Isaac Smith Family.
Isaac B. Smith was born in Ireland about 1757 and died in Virginia in about 1802. Frances Childers is a little more difficult. She is commonly cited as being the daughter of Abraham Childers and Elizabeth Roberts, b. in 1789 or 1790 in Virginia. This birth date does not work because the oldest child of Isaac and Frances is Nancy Smith, born in 1795 (she would have been 5 or 6 years old).
One alternative I have seen posted is a a birth date for Frances of 1770. This works for the children, but Elizabeth Roberts was born in 1768, so she could not be the mother - it is possible that she is the child of a previous marriage for Abraham Childers as he was born in November of 1750 or 1752.
Another part of this is that after Isaac dies she apparently moves to Kentucky and marries John Kelly. There is a story around that at least one child, William Branham Smith, was left behind, but I don't think there is agreement about the truth of that particular story. There is a younger child I have seen referred to as Melvina Smith, b. in 1820, which obviously is not correct, at least as connected to Isaac Smith.
My tie to this family is through their son John Smith (b. 1802 in Virginia) and his son Samuel James Smith - Samuel was born in Kentucky in 1832 as far as I know, and later moved to (West) Virginia as did John. His birth in Kentucky would support the notion that Frances moved there and at least John went with her.
Does anyone have any more information on this family, and in particular Frances "Frankie" Childers?
Thanks in advance for any help or input anyone can give!

OK I my GGGG Grandmother was Rebekah Childers Taylor and she is listed next to her brother John Childers/Childress in Spartanburg in 1820. Rebekah (Rebecca) Married James Taylor and this is the same Childers Family as my other Childers. She lived in Spartanburg in 1790. I often wondered if my Childress family was connected to those in Rutherford Co, but have not proved this. Some migrated into Old Pemdleton and into TN then Ga.

I haven't gotten very far in my Childers line. I found my Great-grandmother in a 1880 Spartanburg Census. Then somewhere my Grandmother was raised by her Gibbs family because my Great-grandfather drowned crossing a river with a wagon and a team of horses. My Childers Great-grandmother disappeared somewhere??? My father didn't even know what happened to his Grandmother. So, that's as far as I've gotten with my Childers family. But, they were either in Spartanburg or Rutherford County, NC. so far...
