I see a Sam and Lorine Childress in the 1930 census in Gastonia/Gaston/North Carolina, children Sallie, Nell, Albert and Roy. 1920, same location, has Sam & Lorene Childers, and Childers and Williams children. Haven't looked anymore, but you could get a lot of info by studying the various censuses.
My grandmother was a Childers from GA, and they're difficult to research because the spelling of the name varies so much. Good luck!

Im looking for information on my great-grandfather, Sam Childers. I have almost no information on him. He married Larina/Lorena Arnold before 1918. My grandfather's name was Albert James Childers and his death record provided me with the information on his father. Sam could have been from western NC or northern Ga. The reason I think this is because my grandmother, wife of Albert J. Childers, was from Macon Co. NC. Her name was Stella Josephine Sawyer (Sawyers). Albert was born in 1918. Albert was killed in an accident in 1959, so I never knew him. My father and grandmother never talked about the family.

Trying to find any information on Robert Childres who was listed on the 1790 Greenville Co, SC census and then on the 1800 Franklin Co, GA Tax List. There was also an R. Childers on the 1818 & 1819 Franklin Co, GA Tax List whom I believe to be the same person. Any help with this person would be greatly appreciated.
Bobby Childers
