I'm trying to join DAR and have run into a problem with Goolsbury & Nancy Sweeney. (Married 1782) I have a list of all their childern, but can't really document them. Susannah Childress married John Adams (1804) got most of that information. Any help would be appreciated.

Ruby: It appears you have made considerable headway on tracing our common ancestor's family since we last corresponded. I am very interested in your research. Please contact me via email (still the same address after all these years) if you would like to share. Allan Childers

Thank you so much - I am looking at Phillemon Childers and think that he may have been Thomas' father. Also, Thomas went by Thomas Childrey as far as I can tell. My grandfather was Oren C. Childers, great-grandfather was William Jeremiah Childers, great-great grandfather was William Patterson Childers, his father was Matthew Noah Childers, his father was James Childers and his father was Thomas Childers. Have come a long way from only knowing my grandfather Oren Childers' history a few years ago, but am now at a stand still. Thanks again, Ruby

Sorry, but Thomas and Lottie are as far back as my tree goes. I can swing limbs down, but got no more to go up. I'm still looking, so if I find anything I'll let you know.
GOOD LUCK in your search!

I am looking for information on Thomas Childers/Childrey and Lottie Brewer. I am wanting to know his father's name and information so that I can continue with my Childers Family Tree. Would you happen to know any information on him. He was born in 1736 in Henrico Co., VA and married Lottie Brewer in 1769. She was born in 1750 in Virginia and died in Georgia. Thank you, Ruby Childers Wright

My great grandfather was David [but he didn't have middle or first] David was it! He was married to Mary Ann Murry.
I have not come across any Native American Childers. But not to say there aren't any.
And I'm not sure what we are.

I believe I am indirectly related to your Childres Family. I have traced my Rogers line back to Ripley MS where William Andrew Rogers married Carrie Ethel Powell in 1907. Carrie Powell d/o James Thomas Powell and Martha Caroline Childres.
Martha Childres was b:abt 1859 in Tippah Co. MS, d/o David Richard Childers and Susan Lucy Morgan.
My question is, have you ever found or heard of any Native American connection? My grandmother has said that her father's mother or grandmother was full blooded Cherokee and she has a picture of the woman. I have found no evidence of Martha Childres or Carrie Powell being Native American. Other than that I have heard of this line being Dutch/Irish. I think I found the Irish on the Powell side. Is Childres possibly Dutch?
Thank you for any help you can give,
Sarah Goatbe
