In searching for my family and reading the board, I think I have a partial answer as to how the Jasper and Childers families are connected.
I found Bessie M. Gray born 23 Ap 1887, Cove, Union, Oregon
died * May 1963, Cove, Union, Oregon. Daughter of George Gray and Sylvina Jasper. Bessie married Le Roy Childers. Le Roy Childers was born 10 Nov. 1884, Alicel, Union, Oregon, died 18 Jan 1947, Summerville, Union, Oregon. Parents George P. Childres of Missouri, and Nancy A. Chase. I don't have a marriage date but you can check the Western States Marriage index on line and they have early Union county Oregon Marriages.

Alright. I talked to my mother and here's what she knows. Mason and my great grandfather had a sister named Sally. She doesnt know if Sally got married, or if she did, what her husbands name was.
Mason's children:
Gene Childers
Robert "Bugs" Childers
Lingerfelt Childers
Belk Childers
After Mason died, Gene married so that he could keep the children together. Gene's wife is named Mary and she is still living. They had two children. Boy and a girl. The boys name is Tommy. Gene passed away from cancer years ago.
Robert is still living.
She knows nothing about Lingerfelt.
The only thing she remembers about Belk is that when she was a little girl she shot him in the finger with a BB gun.
She couldnt remember the names of the other two children. Of course, she was only three with Mason died.
How are you related to Mason?

I dont know where his children are, but he was my g-g-uncle. Mason's nephew was my grandfather, Albert J. Childers. My father didnt talk much about his side of the family. I know that there was a girl named Childers whom I believe was related. She lived in Dallas, NC, which is just a couple of miles north of Gastonia.
My maternal grandfather and his brother were two of the first people on the scene when Mason shot himself.

Subject: Childress genealogy
Dear Childress Researcher,
Although I know this is not your direct line, I wonder if you could help me or put me on the right track. In 1789 and 1790 John and Thomas Childress were placed under the guardianship of their uncle Joseph Drury. This was in Bedford County, Va. I understand their mother was Elizabeth (Betty) Wiggington Childress and that she was the sister of Joseph Drury's wife (Sybil Wiggington). Apparently Joseph and Sybil Drury raised these two boys and after Joseph died around 1805, I know that Thomas went across the mountains with Sybil Drury and her family. Does any of this ring a bell? I have often wondered about the families of these two boys who kept the name Childress. I wonder if any descendants are looking for them?
I look forward to your reply.

I'm looking for the father of my gg-grandmother. From what I know she is the 4th wife of James WILSON b. 1804 in Virginia and moved to Kentucky in the before 1850. He married Mary Childers in Butler Co, Ky. in April of 1864. They had three children Oliver (b. 1866), Albert (b. 1868)and Jesse (b. 1872, my gg-grandfather. On Jesse's death certificate, his mom was listed as Mary Childers.
Any info on Mary would be greatly appreciated
Thanks
Jack
