Message Board Post:
Thank you for sharing Mrs. Lydia CHILDERS' obit.
As a follow up, here are a few notes regarding her family:
NAME: I found one mention online with a given name of Ella Lydia.
PARENTS: Possibly the daughter of Thompson PERRYMAN and Hannah _______(?). Some say she was born in February 1851 in Creek Nation, Indian Territory.
HUSBAND: She was married to the infamous Daniel CHILDERS, about whom much has been written in early Indian Territory history. Daniel was killed by Bill JONES on a hot August 25, 1885 in present-day Tulsa after allegedly going on a rampage and killing Jane OWENS--wife of Chauncey, owner of Tulsa's first hotel, and threatening to kill George B. PERRYMAN.
Before this temporary breakdown of his senses, "Goob" CHILDERS was a prominent cattleman and member of the Creek Nation. He served with the Confederate States Army, Company D. 1st Creek Infantry. He was later appointed Captain of the Light Horse (Indian Police) in what is now known as Coweta, Oklahoma. He and Lydia are buried in the White Church Cemetery in Tulsa County, Oklahoma.
The Federal Census of Indian Territory (now Oklahoma) for 1900 indicates Daniel and Lydia CHILDERS had eleven children, with seven living at that time. Various researchers list the following children:
Silas b. 1868;
Thomas b. 1872;
Benjamin 1872-1904;
James A. 1876-1935;
Joseph 1877-1904;
Daniel Boone 1879-1946;
Paul 1881-1902;
Richard Henry Pratt 1882-1902;
and
Maudie May b. 1883.
The Chronicles of Oklahoma has more on the PERRYMAN and CHILDERS, early pioneers of Creek Nation, Indian Territory (now Tulsa County, Oklahoma):

NOTE: "Louchridge" is Robert McGill LOUGHRIDGE born 24 Dec 1809 in Laurensville, South Carolina, and educated in Alabama, Ohio and Princeton Theological Seminary. In 1843 he arrived in Indian Territory and started a Presbyterian school in present-day Coweta, later called the Tullahassee Mission. He taught, preached and wrote books in the Creek language.
