I too am interested in Tennessee CHILDERS. I have Matthew Noah CHILDERS
born in S. Carolina or Tennessee. He married Mariah Hart who was born in
Tennessee. Any information about the parents of either Matthew or Mariah would be
greatly appreciated. Matthew was born about 1803 and Mariah was born about
1815. At least one of their children was born in Illinois. They died in
Missouri.
Deloris
Which Childers did you descend from?

Hello, I was wondering, do you descend from an Elijah Childers? If this is
the correct person, who did your Elijah marry? I I have 2 Eliajhs in my
family and they went in the opposite direction from Illinois. I am trying to
find them on the census and want to make sure I am not tracking the wrong one.
Thanks

From what is stated on the 1880 cenus his mother was born in KY and his father in IL as was he. His wife was born in TN but that wouldn't be Childers.

At some point they lived in herrin, IL which I believe is either Williamson county or Johnson County. One of their sons was born there and that is where my family has stayed for the most part on that side.

My Childers are originally from Tennessee They moved to Union County, Illinois in late 1860s or early 1870s. My grandfather William Porter Childers married Sophronia McCasland in 1867 in Giles County Tennessee. They had four sons that I know of.

Which part/county of IL was it? I'm looking for childers, also.
Bravo to you and your ancestors Jerry! To all our Childers / Childress
ancestors who fought bravely for our country, bravo! Hope all of you had a happy
and safe 4th of July.

Well I know there is NO end to our search on our Childers, and I have no
doubt we are all connected someway. So good luck Cuz on what you are able to
find.

Sadly, Isom is my brick wall. I have not been able to tie him in with any of
the other Childers families from VA. I believe he was in the Clinch River
area of Washington Co, which became Russell Co. He with his wife Mary, and
children: James R, Elizabeth, Alexander Crockett, Esquire, Nancy and Joseph came
to the Lawrence Co, AR area around 1830. I would love to find parents or
siblings for Isom. But alas...
Nora Childers Girgis
I wish we had a way of knowing the siblings of our great and great greats,
etc. your Isom could have been a brother to my Archibald [who knows or ever
will?] My childers/Childress was in Virginia and came down through
Tenessee,
and most on into Tippah Co., Mississippi. And part of us ended up in Texas.

I also see all the messages on the mailing list. If you put them on the
board they still come out on the list as this too. I read all of them that has
anything to do with the Childers/Childress name, I am [or was a] Childers.

Mailing list versus Message board
Hi All,
I am the one that sent in the post about Isom Childers of Virginia. I have
always posted to the ancesty.com message board and also receive the mailing
list. In the past I have received replies to postings and only recently figured
out they were coming from the mailing list alone. (Couldn't find the post on
any message board.). I've just replied through the message board knowing it
would also be posted here. So, which does the group prefer. Post to the
mailing list or the message board? Either is good for me, I'm just happy when I
make a connection. Opinions?
