I noticed your posting on the Abraham and Philemon Childers lines in Henrico Co VA.
My ancestor Milner Childers b1760 appears to connect to an older Milner Childers who died 1731 Henrico. This older Milner was a son or grandson of one of them...still sorting it out.
Maybe we can compare notes.
Thanks,
Gary

Hi Judy,
I think I've figured out the ancestry of Milner Childers born c1760 of Wilkes Co NC. He ties in with an older Milner Childers who died 1731 in Henrico VA (probably was his grandfather). The first name came from John Milner whose daughter Mary married Thomas Childers. Someone said it was an Elizabeth Milner who married a "Mr. Childers" but I think they meant Mary since that one is documents.
I'm 99% convinced Milner and Sarah Childers of Wilkes NC were parents of my Catherine ancestor born 1795 who married David Wilkey in Wilkes NC.
I posted some details recently but realized I replied to my own posting rather than yours. Please email me if you'd like details.
Thanks,
Gary

Any chance you have the email address of the woman from Missouri who was searching for Hezekiah Adkins? I have a Hezekiah Adkins in Kentucky but no other information on him - just a record in a Bible belonging to my grandfather, Luther William Adkins (Olney, Texas), son of Gale (G.B.) Adkins thought to be out of Pike County, Kentucky.

I'm having some difficulty on finding information about my Childers' lineage. My great-grandfather is Russell Guy Childers. Only date I have about him is his death; April 4, 1969. He married Eunice (E. or F.) Foster. She passed away in 1994. Any help in any sort of direction would be greatly appreciated!

The query was posted a long time ago but I have a John Childers, son of William and Jane Higginbotham Childers, marrying Belinda Kimberling. Have not been able to find any information on that family. Can any one help me on the John and Belinda line? Thanks.

Hi Cass,
I've been trying to sort out the ancestors of Milner Childers of Wilkes Co NC. Below is what I think might be his line from Henrico Co VA, based on multiple findings and some circumstantial indicators (too numerous to list). I'm 99% convinced he was a grandson of Millner Childers I from Henrico.
Please keep me posted on anything new.
Thanks,
Gary
Generation 1
Abraham Childers born 1655 died 1698 Henrico VA married Ann LNU Henrico VA (note - his will mentions sons Abraham, Henry, Philemon, John, children of son Robert dec'd but not a William who would not yet be of age nor does he mention any daughters)
Generation 2
William Childers born c1680 Henrico VA died 17 Jan 1726 Henrico VA married Elizabeth Milner born c1680 Henrico VA died after 1726. Elizabeth was a daughter of John Milner born 16 Aug 1635 Pudsey, Yorkshire England, and Mrs. Katherine Parker born c1644 died 30 May 1721 Henrico VA. John Milner was a son of Rowland Milner. John's apparent sister Jane Milner born 1642 married a Henry Pugh/Pew of Henrico. An offspring of theirs may have married a Pierce/Price because a Pew Pierce/Price deed was witnessed by Millner Childers 1733. William Childer's estate inventory was by Henry Childers, Edward Goode, John Goode 17 Jan 1726. Henry Childers died 1727 with Edward Goode, Thomas Childers and William Frogmorton, James Howl (Howell) doing his inventory. This Henry was a son of Abraham who died 1698 and Ann.
Generation 3
Milner Childers I born c1700-1705 died before April 1741 Henrico VA married Unknown (died intestate). Those involved in estate were Joseph Ligon adm, William Stratton security, appraised by Isaac Sharp, Henry Sharp, William Pierce, Georg Raborn.
Generation 4
Unknown Childers born c1725-1735 Henrico VA married Unknown
Generation 5
Milner Childers II born c1759 married Sarah Unknown lived in Wilkes Co NC 1790-1838 (in GA part of that time), moved to Hall Co GA 1838

When compiling the Childers/Childress of ww2 Which way should they be
indexed the state of birth or state they where living in at the time of
enlistment.
I'll do it the way by majority vote.

I believe it would be easier to find an ancestor if they are listed by state
of BIRTH.
Most likely we know the general area of birth but some were very far away
from home when they enlisted.
My 2 cents worth....

I'll do it the way by majority vote.
With the new year fast approaching I'm under taking a new project. I'll like
to collect and organize in similar fashion to my Childers/Childress civil
war site. _http://www.geocities.com/injackcw/_
(http://www.geocities.com/injackcw/)
If any one has any newspaper clippings, photos, papers, stories,
information, ships names. obits, anything please sent it to me for this project. That
and if anyone has any comments or suggestions I would like to hear them. Help
me out a bit on this one folks, I've done got a data base of almost 2000
Childers/Childress men and women that served in WW2 but now I'ld like to put
some"meat" to the dry bone names.
