Subject: [CHILDERS] Nicholas Perkins, VA, 1600's
Nicholas Perkins was born about 1640 (1647) in Charles City County, Virginia
(?). Nicholas may have been the son of Nicholas Perkins Sr. and Jane
Ironmonger. Nicholas was a single tithe in Henrico County in 1679. This
tithe also lists John Ellis and Philemon Childers. Nicholas was married to
Sarah Childress (?). Then in 1696 Nicholas is listed as one of the estate
overseers in the will of John Cannon. Phill. Childers is one of the
witnesses on this will., which suggests that they are still living near each
other. Any assistance with primary or secondary documentation of these lines
greatly appreciated. Always happy to swap files.

Hi again Judy,
I may have posted this information before (can't recall). I think I found the grandfather of the Millner Childers b1760s who was in Wilkes Co NC 1790s and later until 1838. There was a Millner Childers who died 1741 in Henrico Co VA who is the right age to be his grandfather (with a generation in between). The unusual first name gives it away I think. I suspect this Millner may connect to a Robert Childers who died 1731 (widow Catherin) and in turn may connect to a John Millner who died 1684 in Henrico VA (source of the first name). I'm including a Womack record from Henrico because later, in Franklin/Elbert GA 1803, a William Womack witnesses a Millner Childers deed.

The Jack Childers in question here descends from Alford Maloy Childers, born
1837 NC.
MUCH of the information this Jack has put out there has never been proven
and/or is erroneous, many times making it twice as hard to trace common ancestors.
This Jack Childers family's roots are in Red River County, TX. Jack has
lived in OKC for several years now and is not to be confused with either Jack
Childers "Indiana Jack" or Jack Childers that maintains the Childress website;
both who have contributed greatly to our research.

I have a subscription to genealogy.com I have all the states. Some of the
records are lost for some states. Do you have a particular name you want to
know about? I could probably look it up for you.
Deloris
Thank you Deloris, I cannot get past Samuel Childers that married Rebecca
Hughes, and they lived in Pleasants or Wood County and one of his sons was
Jonathan that married Liddy Dotson, dau/of Richard Dotson. They were found
in Tyler Co., WV in 1850 census. I have no idea if Jonathan had siblings,
either. That is my husband's family. Mine is Mitchel H/Umphress, born in
1814 Georgia, illegitimate and no parent listed on the guardianship paper.
Now THAT one is fun to try to find anything on, especially since no one
could pronounce much less spell that name correctly!
I have a full subscription to Ancestry.com until the end of the year if
you want me to do look-ups in exchange. Barb

MARRIED -- at Stockton, March 1st, Mr. G.W. TRAHERN to Miss Henrietta B. CHILDERS.
Hi Dorothy
Haven't heard from you for awhile and was wondering how you were doing in
your Childers research. I am currently communicating with another Childers
researcher who has one back to 1777 and had brothers but I don't know if we
connect. She sent her line to me and I sent mine to hers. If you would like to
get into the loop let me know.
Keep in touch.
Deloris
Hi Deloris, I am glad you wrote.
I haven't heard anything yet, but I did write my cousin a couple of weeks
ago asking if she heard from the guy who does the tracing. I will send out
another email to her this evening asking again.
I try not to bother her to much, she is not well, I think she has MS.
Although she keeps her spirits up, I know it has to be hard on her and her
husband.
I was thinking about you as well, sorry I haven't wrote, please forgive me.
Sure I would love to get back in the ring again!
Dorothy

Subject: [CHILDERS] 1810 Census for CHILDERS
I copied sever CHILDERS in the 1810 census for KY, S. C., N. C., but didn't
find any in TN. I didn't copy down the CHILDRES or CHILDRESS names.
My reason for doing this is to find out how many of the CHILDERS families
had a son under 10 that year and hopefully to eliminate some of them
through
this list. If any of these CHILDERS' are yours and you don't have a son
Matthew for yours please let me know so I can eliminate that one. I hope
this will
help someone else. This includes all other persons and slaves where
readable. I realize the ones with no sons under 10 can't be his father but
I
wanted to list all of them.
I am sorry that this is so long but I sure hope it helps someone and me
too.
LOL
