My wife's gggm may be the sister of Elizabeth Stanley of Warren Co. TN. The Warren Co. TN census record of 1850 lists Elizabeth b.abt1840, Saphrona A b.abt1844, Sallie L b.abt1846, & Rachel Morning b.abt1848. Their parents are listed as Nathan b.abt1791 in NC and Mary b.abt1821 in TN.
Do you have any more information on the Nathan Stanley family? Sallie L was my wife's gggm.
Thanks,
Mack

Here is an interesting link for those with ancestors in Oregon. At Heritage Trail Press' website is a free index of death certificates for the state of Oregon during 1903-1930. They are continuing to add more names. It is searchable by first and/or last name (or part of a name).

Another link on that site leads to a cemetery transcription project at a Rootsweb US GenWeb page:

And have you seen Rootsweb's death index for California? For the years 1940-1997. (can you believe it! Oh that the other 49 states made it so easy for researchers... Well, Texas has one that may offer more.)

Please note that I have not personally verified this information I have
from family source Steve Childers:
According to the notes I have . . .
"Census records show that Humphrey Posey Childers was born in Buncombe
County [NC] in 1805. At that time Buncombe Country was comprised of all
the land that is west of it's present borders and parts of eastern
Tennessee." - Steve Childers
Summarizing Steve Childers' notes . . . .
Humphrey first married Sally Hebbards (Hibberds?); among their children
were twin daughters Polly and Nancy, born in 1841.
Later (1849) he married Sarah Wilson who had a daughter named Amlinda.
Humphrey's name last appeared in the 1880 census of Swain County (NC) in
the Oconoluftee area.
Sorry, but I do not know if any of them went to Tennessee.

Jo, thanks for the email. According to information from family sources,
I believe my paternal lineage to be as follows:
Humphrey Posey C. and Sally Hibberds
Elijah C. and Lucinda Guilliams
Thomas Clingman C. and Emily Dawson
Thomas Clingman C., Jr. and Bertha Franklin
Roy Arthur Childers and Inez Shepherd
Now I am hoping to find the earlier generations. I will appreciate any
help you can provide, and will gladly share if I have anything useful to
you.
Dwight Childers
Good afternoon:
Do you know of any of his daughters and did he or any children go to TN?
Thanks.
Walt

I can't prove it but I would strongly suspect they are connected to my James C. Childers. He was born in Spartanburg, SC son of Jesse Childers and Elizabeth Powers. Jesse moved to Madison Co., Ala. and James C. moved to Marshall Co., Ala. I don't have any other info on Jesse's children at hand but I will check to see what I can find.

Thanks so much for the inf . I think this is to early to be the three I'm looking for. Mine would be Eliza b. 1873, William b.1875 and I have learned that the one we thought to be Hattie was Katie b.1877. I guess the census taker made a mistake on her name in the 1880 census in Dekalb Co.That is where she first showed up being listed as 3 years old b. in Alabama. Let me know if you have anything that might relate to this information.
Thanks
Carolyn

Don't know if this will help but here is what I have. The 1850 Butler County, AL census shows a William (age 18) and Elijah (age 15?, male) in the household of Cullin Childre. There is no Hattie listed. Also the 1860 Dale County, AL census shows a William Childre (age 28) and Eliza J. Childre (female, age 18) in the same household. The only other person listed in this household is John J. Childre (age 25) who I think may be my great grandfather, John Jefferson Childers.
Hope this helps.
