Searching for distant cousins, Ballard Arron Jr., and Betty Childers.
Most likely born in New York State, in early 1940's. Father was in the
service, served in Europe. Was discharges in New Jersey.
Family may have moved to Okla.
Parents divorced. Father married again, but none of the family know where
these two relatives are. Would love to get in touch.

Does any one out there have any family that lived in or around Knox County, Tennessee?
I had family there in the late 1700's and into the 1850's.
Thank you

I came across these tonight thought they might be of interest to some one,
Both of these accounts are of federal trials after the Civil War,(1871) the
first is the trial of Sherrod Childers, and his involvement as a member of
the KKK, and crimes comitted in York County South Carolina. Be prepared to
spend some time here due to the length of the material.
The 2nd is the other side of the coin, here a colored (correct term at that
time period) man by the name of John Childers ,from Alabama testifies against
the Klan in his beating and the whipping of his daughter which resulted her
death.
Once again Be prepared to spend some time here due to the length of the
material.
just cut and paste the address to your search
make sure to get it all they are rather lengthy.

Taken from The Clay County Courier Newspaper, published in Corning Arkansas.
May 16, 1902
Detective Murdered; Samuel Childress, of Yell County, (Arkansas) was found
dead near Aplin, having been assassinated, the murderer using a shot gun.
James A. Huddleston, alias Alexander, is charged with the crime. Childress
was regarded as a sort of secret detective. Not long ago he made a trip to
Texas and shortly after his return a merchant of Casa named Alexander was
arrested on the charge of counterfeiting money in Texas some twelve years
ago. It developed that Alexander's real name was Huddleston, and that he
escaped from the Paris, Texas jail the night before a verdict sentencing him
to ten years in the penitentiary was delivered to the court. Nothing was
heard of him untill the occurence mentioned above. The evidence against him
leading to his discovery was worked up and furinshed to the Texas
authorities by Childress. Huddeleston was taken back to Paris and it is
reported to have been sentenced to five years in the penitentiary, but was
released about three weeks ago. He immediately returned to Casa and
instituted a suit for libel against Childress. On the day of the killing it
is alleged Huddleston secured a shot gun and went hunting in the direction
where the dead man was found.
