Some of the joy has gone from me this day. LILLIE SIPES YOUNG WOLFENBARGER
passed away this morning at 7:30 AM.
Lillie was born February 24, 1897 in Fulbright, Texas to William Elijah Sipes
and Margaret Elizabeth Childers. Lillie spanned the centuries. She knew
American Indians and outlaws. She was a Deputy US Marshall. She was a
strong woman beyond her times.
Even though I have lost a cherished treasure, it was a joy and a pleasure to
have known this wonderful woman. I was blessed.

Are there any researchers that can tell me about any more Matney
connections in the Childers/Childress names ?

I went to Ohio Health Department, Division of Vital Statistics, Columbus,
OH, and got my death certificates for .03 ea., plus postage. They find
what you are looking for, show it to you to make sure it is correct, then
they have to mail it to you. Don't ask me why they have to mail it.
Doesn't take long to receive them.

: I would like to reply on this death cert. problem.
: Can't help, but would like to say I sent for 4 death cert. in Feb, the
cost
: was $1.00 per death cert from Jackson Co. (according to a site
information) I
: just got 2 of them back (two months later) with a note saying the cost is
: $2.00 and please send SASE.
: Don't judge all of Jackson Co. offices by my statement because I sent
: requests to three different offices and two of them helped and replied in
: less than two weeks.
: I suppose I will have to wait another two months for the two other death
: cert.'s I want.

If any one would like information on any Childers in the civil War from
Indiana please drop me a line. I have copies of muster in records most give
physical description, occupation, and other misc. notes. I would post them
all but there is just too many and I'd be typing all night at the speed that
I go. Also, I have a list of names of all Childers from the state of
Illinois. AND T his will open a can of worms for me , but also I've
got listing of ALL known Childers and Childress from the confederacy, PLEASE
provide as much info as possible for this one Name -state and any thing else
of note as far as where he lived---because often on state border counties a
man would join up in the near by state. I'm open to assist anyone with
questions on this subect!!-----------Indiana Jack

Thought I would give you some friendly advice on postings. I received your
message the other day and deleted it immediately without opening it. In
the subject line, you typed "Unidentified subject". In this day and age I
am always on the lookout for viruses. It didn't show that it was from
Rootsweb, CHILDERS-L. I'm glad I just opened it ( I was cleaning out my
deleted files ), for it had my curiosity up.
We have family coming out of Pike Co., KY, but don't know about your
Joseph. I descend from two CHILDERS lines; Robert Childers, b. 1809, VA,
marr. Jentz VANHOOSE and lived in Eastern KY AND descend from Abraham
Childers, b.1797, VA, marr. Elizabeth PRESTON and lived in and around Pike
Co., KY.
Good luck in your searches and please post if you find out anything.

Hello Childers cousins,
Although I am not real new to this list, I haven't posted anything yet, and
thought it was about time.
My 3rd-great-grandmother, Martha E. Childers, was born 3 Oct 1849 in
Springfield, MO and died 26 Dec 1940 in (Greene County?) Arkansas. She
married (1864 AR)James (Jim) W. Garner who was born 1843 in MO and died Mar
1877 in Arkansas (and believe to have been 1/2 Cherokee -- no confirmation,
yet). Her father's name I have as John Childers and mother as Ursula
"Ersley" DeMoss. I have no other information on those two and wondering if
anyone on this list has run across them in there research or even has them
in their line somewhere?
BTW, Jack, I'm glad you are feeling better. Take real good care of
yourself -- for you and Kade.

I have the newly published Jasper County Ms. Cemetery Book just published
by the Jones County Genealogical and Historical Organization. I will do
look ups for those who believe they have CHILDERS/CHILDRESS/CHILDRES
ancestors buried in Jasper County Ms.
Please e-mail me directly at: sheria20(a)aol.com
I don't know if there would be an objection to posting information to the
mailing list.

I posted this a while back but got no replies, so I'm re-posting. Maybe
someone new is on the list that might have input.

Since this is a genealogy list, the thought entered my mind that I should
post some genealogy related items !
Kade and I have a web page at
<A HREF="http://members.aol.com/jchild8629/genealgy/index.htm">THE CLAN

Once there you can see what we look like, and there is a hyperlink that will
take you to our family tree that is posted on the internet. Once you reach
the family tree site you have to scroll down to Childers by Jack Childers and
click on that. Who knows, we might be related !

I am not sure how or where you found my query on my search for a Richard
or Randall Childress, with an aunt named Mary Slater, but how am I to
know how to reach you or communicate with you? I'm not some sort of
freak trying to be your cousin. I'm just looking for some long lost
family that my mother would like to see again and I would like to meet
for the first time. It is difficult to trust people I know, but if you
want to correspond with me then give me some sort of email. Use a
hotmail address or something. I want to meet Richard or Randall
Childress. The cousins of my mother, Janice Slater Hamilton. No Biggie.
My mother is from Dayton, OH. If this matches your family then write me.
