My uncle was named Charles Childress, son of Thomas Jefferson Childress,
sometime the name was spelled Childers. Thomas was born in Ala. Charles was
born in Franklin Co, Ark., and married in Texas about 1902. Died in Hunt Co.
texas. Does that sound like there is any connection?

Gee I wish that I could find the ancestors of Mosby Childers, I have spent
over 15 years researching for the Ancestors of Mosby, even have posted a
$500.00 reward for proof of his parents for the past five years, but no
takers.

I would be in "Hog Heaven" if I could find some info on this dear lady. She
was my husband's grandmother, but the people that would know anything about
her, are with her in "a better place," too.
The following is all that I know of her.
It is reported that her birth name was Martha Idalee Virginia Childers and
that her parents were; Robert F. and Lizzie nee BLAN.
I know that she had at least one brother, Elmer.
I also know that she died March 27, 1952 in Paducah, Cottle Co., Texas. I was
married into the family by this time.
Also known; she was first married to John CALDWELL, who died before they were
blessed with any children.
She was next married to Ste(a)ve Anderson Parker in Texas. To them was born
#1. Clarence Alvis born 8-27-1903 in Greenville, Hunt Co., Texas.
#2. Velma Lee born 8-28-1907 in Hardeman Co., Texas.
I would be happy to share any info that I have with any and all, if they find
this of interest.
I have a LOT of data on my own family, but my hubby's are pretty elusive and
he is feeling very "deprived," so if anyone can help me with this one, I would
be so greatful, and so would he.
Mary Parker
Please Read the letter below and see if you can help this man find his father
Thanks....( He would appreciate it, if you posted it to the LIST you belong
to.)
I search always my father Richard Gray who was MP on North Africa (Oran,
Algeria) until November 1943.
I have received from Department Of The Army Historical Reference Branch
Carlisle
the list of Companies MP in Oran.

I think my father was in one of theses compagnies.
Have you parents, friends or people you know who were in one one these
companies ?
Only if so, could you give me his or their adress e-mail or mail and I will
write them.
Most of these companies went to Italy or Sicile.
Attention : The biggest problem is the Companies have changed in other
name for exemple : the 101st (this bataillon was shipped out the end of
Sept 1943) was converted to the 503rd MP B.
Another, THANK YOU for all your help and for your kind messages, I'm in
France I see I am not forgetten in US.
Best regards
Claude Richard

Re the Family Treemaker CDs: It's a mixed bag: some are well
documented and others are just a mess - so much mis-information that
will really throw you off. I use them as a starting point. There is a
site where you can go to to contact the submitter of the particular
pedigree. It's organized by the tree #. I'm not where I can get to
that info, but I'll bet someone is. Sometimes, I've been able to print
out the documentation from the CD, but not often. As I understand it,
FTM only reproduces what is submitted. They don't do any checking and
have no particular standards for acceptance. Also, I just recently
saw on one of these lists that LDS does not verify work submitted to
them by families. The more genealogy I do, the more I realize how
much questionable stuff is out there. There just doesn't seem to be any
substitute for consulting original records! Oh, yes, there are several
sites that help you watch out for printed books/authors who have been
generally discredited. Happy hunting! Jane C.
I am searching for information on the eldest daughter of Joel Childress and
Nancy Clark. Born in Jackson Co. ,Ala. between 1825-1830.
Siblings were
Jefferson, Monroe, Sarah, Laura, John, Nancy, Mary, Joseph, Caldonia, and
Virginia E.
Any information will be appreciated .
