Anyone out there researching Childs?
Nathan CHILDS SR B. c1730 Where? D.12 May 1807 Elbert Co. GA.
Had daughter Elizabeth ma Thomas Head. Resided Morgan Co. GA.
TIA, Joyce McMurray
I am looking for ancestors and descendents of James Curtis Childers born
May 23, 1817 and married Elizabeth Allgood who died in 1858. They are
found in the 1840 Claiborne Co., TN Census records. Here are their
children and who they married:
James Owen Childers married someone named Rebecca
Jessie Childers married Permelia Grubb
Elizabeth Childers married William Cadle
John Henry Childers married Liz Bonham (he was married several times)
Eliza J. married Abraham Cadle
Susan Childers married William Eli
William Fletcher Childers married Mary Josephine Green
Samuel Childers married Martha A. Brown
Henry was born abt 1850. No more information on him.
According to the information I have found from several new cousins this
is the Childers story. After Elizabeth Allgood died most of James
Curtis Childers family went to MO. with Susan and William Ely. From
their they went to Ellis Co., TX. William Fletcher Childers, Samuel Lee
Childers and John Henry Childers all fought for the south. We believe
that James Owen Childers fought for the North. The story is that
William Fletcher Childers saw one of his brothers at the battle of
Vicksburg, Mississippi and instead of firing at each other they hugged
and fell to their knees crying because they found each other.
I would like to see if anyone else has the same information that I
have. I have alot of information on William Fletcher Childers because
he was my g-g grandfather.

Hi,
I'm still here too, lurking. I'm on a couple of lists that has family
from SW Virginia who are not chatty. Is this a trait of that part of
the country? ;-)
Just checking in, hope everyone got what they wanted for Christmas.

death. Also, would appreciate information on the parents of Lee

Hey Joe, you are still on the list. You and me anyway. Seriously, this
list has never been exceedingly chatty. I think people wait until they
have something to say.
I will take this time to say that if there is anyone on this list who is
not also on the Taulbee list, the all surname index just made of Rose
Taulbee's family history shows there are 16 pages with
Childers/Childress in the book and if anyone has an interest in them,
they can ask here or email me, whichever.
Now Joe, you have some activity. Too late for Merry Christmas, but Happy
New Year and may you find all the missing ancestors this next year.

Have just placed Morgan County, KY Marriages, 1823 thru 1882 inclusive
on line on the Taulbee Pages. There are Childers scattered throughout.
The files were sent to me in Word Perfect and the bold fonts have again
caused some minor column alignment problems I will have fixed by the end
of the year. Then I will break the half megabyte text file into smaller
pieces and post them in the USGenWeb Archives. In the meantime, they are
