Hi Catrina,
I am afraid I ca't help directly with your search back beyond Benjamin as I haven't got that far back myself yet. Although I appear (from DNA results) that I am related to a number of Child(s) in the US.
There appear to be two main clusters of Child families in the UK. One around the southwest and one around Yorkshire. Also many in London, of course.
This chart shows some info on Child(s) going back hundreds of years:

Hi Catrina,
Thank you for your message. There were many people named Child that left England to come to the US. Thanks to the internet, and living near Philadelphia, my cousins (15) and I have been able to trace our family that came to Philadelphia in 1782. They added the "s" to the name in the early 1800s.
I do believe that my Child family originated in Yorkshire, so, I would have to say that I do not believe we are related. The Child families that settled in New England are pretty well documented. Good luck in your research!
Betty

Hello,
I am also from a long Child line. I am using my father-in-law's account to research my line. My maiden name is Catrina Child. It appears from the searching I have done that I come from the Benjamin Child(e) II born 1631 in Cottesbatch, England and died in Roxbury, Massachusetts. I have done a little digging into the extended relatives and there may be a chance that we are related. I would have to do more work to find out.
Love hearing from you.
Catrina Child Gardner
