Hi there,
There is an entry on FreeBMD for the birth of a Lilian M. WILSON born 1st quarter of 1924 in Chicester, Sussex. The mother's maiden name is BROOME. Perhaps daughter was named after her mother? Thought it might be worth your investigating further? Keep us posted !
Good luck
Annmarie

Message Board Post:
Lilian Maud BROOME was born in Wolverhampton STS in 1899.
On Armistice day 11th November 1918 she left home in Wolverhampton after a
family tiff.
Her parent's did not like the young man she was going with.
Her younger sister received a birthday card from her about 1921/22, she
thinks it said from "Lilian and baby John or Joan".
Lilian Maud would be long dead by now. But did she marry this man? - her
younger sister thought he was a Captain in the Army at the time.
Does anybody out there have a Lilian Maud BROOME in their family tree - or
know the end to the story?
Her younger sister is still alive and would love to know what happened to
her. Her family have spent years trawling the GRO for clues - but not having
a spouses name it has turned out to be a really mammoth sized task. She may
even emigrated to other parts of the world. Or she could have been living a
few miles away all her life. Any help or clues would be very helpful.
Are there any BROOME relatives out there who know what happened to Lilian
with one L ?
Is there anybody out there who is related to a John or Joan with a Mam
called Lilian Maud BROOME? Or Lilian Maud some other surname?
Any clues any advice would be appreciated. Most avenues have been searched
over the years - what is really needed is a relative to come forward and let
us know what happened to Lilian Maud BROOME
Here's Hoping !!

Message Board Post:
Lily CHILD and her husband Harry CHILD were members of an acting company from England. Lily was to play a part in the play " The Sign of the Cross " in Montreal. Unfortunately on or around the 24th September 1899 the ship she and her husband were on, the SS SCOTSMAN from Liverepool, sank and Lily was drowned. Harry CHILD did not drown. He was born in about 1864-7 in Westminster in England. His father was a Publican. The play must have gone on and he was a Manager with the Company - who I beleive was headed by Wilson BARRETT an aclaimed thespian of his time. Might Harry CHILD be in the subsequent census in Canada?
Any information about Harry would be appreciated.

Family Search shows this man m Harriet BRYANT (b abt 1815, ? Chenies, Bucks.) Ap. 19 1836 Saint Albans, Hertford. Census reports show him b abt 1804 Chalfont St.Giles Buckinghamshire or Amersham - I think the latter is the Registration District. IGI shows him b abt 1804 of Saint Albans. Am wondering if the baptism was at St.Albans not the b. Would appreciate it if someone can do a look-up for St. Albans so that hopefully, info re his parents might surface.
Thank you - D.Wood
