I have photo copies of an old book with a lot of information in it. I have not printed it out because each photo has two pages on it and there are over 1,000 photos on the CD. The name of the book itself isquite long. Genealogy of the Child, Childs and Childe families of the past and present in the United States and the Canada from 1630 to 1881. The book was published in 1881.
To give an idea of what it has on it:
"Having no date by which to determine with certainty the fact and time of Stephens Child's marriage, our knowledge of his descendents is inferential rather than positive. But there is strong circumstaintial evidence that Aaron CHild, born in Roxbury, Mass., in 1741 was the son of Stephen Child, of the Port Royal expidition. We think that perfect assurance may sometime be obtained*. Lemuel Child, who kept the famous Peacock tavern in Roxbury, Mass.,is know to be a borther of this Aaron Child."
I copied this as was printed, noting the 's' on the end of Stephen the first time mentioned and not being there the second time.
The book goes on with other details, then lists Aaron's birth date and place, marriage date, wife's full name, childrens' names and birth dates, and his death date. It goes further to give information on the children. This is on page 284 and 285 of the book. In some case, it gives the persons' occupation and cause of death.
I also have a copy of the typed version of the "Journal of Warren G. Child".

Hi Sarah, I have a Rose Child b. 1876 in Bermondsey (according to the 1901 census) She appears in the 1890s in the Yorkshire village of Hoyland Nether as a housekeeper to Alfred Kitchen a miner. They produced 3 children one of which was my wife's father. Can't find anything about her Child family - but I note there are several Child(s) families in Bermondsey 1850 - 1900. Have you ever come across a Rose Child?

Hello Mandy,
I have very little to add but you may be interested. I have a Charles Francis Whitby Child born Brighton December 1847. His father was Charles Child and he had a sister Mary Ann Whitby Child who was born 1852 Burlington Highway, Iowa, USA. We don't know the mother's name (though it's possible Whitby may feature, as children through the generations have had this middle name) and can not imagine what Charles senior was doing in the US at that time. By 1861 he was back in London working as a waiter. I know quite a lot about this branch if you are interested.
Regards, Anne
