Through the UK 1901 census I have found that a Rose Child originally thought to have been born/lived in West Yorkshire at the turn of the 20th c. has been found to have been born in Bermondsey, London, UK.
Any Child family genealogists looking in that area?

I do not have any positive evidence where my grandmother came from. Emily
Maud Child, or Maud Emily, she first surfaced when she married George Henry
Pratt who worked in Willesden. She had 3 sons and 2 daughters while residing
in Willesden. She was born in 1872 or 1876. After returning from an overseas
trip she settled in Dorking Surrey (this was after WW2). In Dorking I
believe she stayed with her Sister Nellie for a while. She died in the area
in 1967.
Is there not a local Genealogy or History group in Willesden who are able to
help ?
I have tried the Brent Council, but have been unable to locate any
organization that is on the 'net. I am particularly curious about the
Willesden Railway depot where Geo. Pratt worked.
Any information re these two families would be welcome.
Regards.........Dennis

I bought an old scrapbook many years ago belonging to Mildred Burt Child from St. Louis, MO. She went to school at Lenox Hall and graduated in 1917. The scrapbook is from her senior year. Many photos and momentos, dance cards, programs, corsages, report cards, autographs, etc. Will give to anyone in family for price of postage. Very good condition!

Dennis,
I will check any Harrow link because my father's family come from Watford
which is relatively close to Harrow, driving time around 30 minutes and
Harrow is on the main railway from Watford. It would not be unusual for
people to move in towards London as that is were the work would have been.
I will let you know if anything crops up in Harrow.
Kind regards
Peter R. Child
Many thanks to Peter R for the info.
This being my first post on this list I was happy to get a response. My
Grandmother nee Child was one of 9 children and lived for a while at Harrow.
Very little is known of her family. Her sisters adopted their husband's
names on marriage and these are unknown, so that thread stopped there. The
males may not have survived WW1 and their descendants could be anywhere.
I was kind of hoping that someone on this list might just come up with a
limb of the Child tree that would enable me to at least get started.
I have scratched around on genealogy web sites but their does not seem to be
many UK Child's participating despite the popular surname.
This may bring a response.
Regards to all ....... Dennis
