Robinson L. & Elizabeth Wright Chilcote had six unnamed girls (They were named but I have no knowledge of what their names were). He was in 1820 Dearborn Co., In census. I have lost all contact of where he may have been after 1820 or when he died.. The 3 named girls of Robinson L Chilcote were Susanna Burns wife of William Burns, Jemima Corrick wife of George Phillip Corrick, and Amelia Corrick (1793-1875) wife of Frederick Corrick. Benjamin and Samuel R. Chilcote were the sons of Robinson L. Chilcote. In searching all other possible families, Robinson L. Chilcote is the only possiblity that I can come up with. With the large data base that I have this is really helpful.
Mary Chilcote being a daugther of Joshua and Rebecca Arnold Chilcote is very remote. I don't see a possibility here. Joshua Chilcote is my line.
The birth of the first child of William and Mary Chilcote Stevens being born in Indiana is very unique. Robinson L. & Elizabeth Wright Chilcote being in Dearborn Co., In in 1820 and his two sons later moving to Hocking County, Oh area.
John Chilcote of Hocking County is a son of Joshua and Rebecca Arnold Chilcote.

My Chilcote line is from Samuel R Chilcote's son David C Chilcote. There were stories of Indian ancestry in my line also. I've always thought the Chilcotes in my family looked Indian, and my mother said that when she enrolled for school in Oklahoma Territory, the enroller would look at her face and see the name Chilcote and always ask for her tribal roll number. We have NO documentation of any Indian lineage, however my mother's aunt (Edna Chilcote) has been quoted as saying "We are one quarter Delaware, but don't tell anyone." If the statement was accurate, the quarter would be Samuel R Chilcote or Nancy Thorpe, or else not on the Chilcote line.

Hi. I descend from Mary Chilcote b.~1800 and William Stevens b. ~1790-1795. I am trying to determine whether Mary was the daughter of either Robinson L. Chiilcote and his wife Elizabeth "Betsy" Wright or of Robinson's brother Joshua Chilcote & wife Rebecca Arnold. Mary married William in abt 1818 in either OH or IN, had first child John Stevens in IN !1819/1820, then moved back to Hocking Co. OH. Mary and William lived near Samuel Robinson Chilcote Sr. and near his first cousin John Chilcote and Hester. They also lived close to George and Frederick Corrick, brothers, who married Jemima and Persilla Chilcote, who were supposedly sisters of Samuel R. Chilcote Sr. and therefore daughters of Robinson L. Chilcote & Betsy Wright. Mary Chilcote Stevens had these children: John ~1819/1820, Betsy 1820-1825, Samuel C. ~1825, Rachel Arminta [married 1st ? Woodgeard and 2nd ?? Brown]; Jesse b. 1835 and Mary "Polly" b. 1838. Mary Chilcote Stevens died before 1850. On the 1850 cen!
sus, William Stevens & his 2 youngest children, Jesse and Polly, are living with his oldest son John Stevens and his wife Mary and children David 3 and Margaret 1.

Hi. I descend from William Stevens who married Mary Chilcote in abt. 1818 in either OH or IN, but they had their first son in Indiana in about 1819 or 1820, then moved back to Hocking Co. OH where their other children were born. I am trying to determine whether Mary was the daughter of Robinson L. Chilcote who supposedly married Betsy Wright or his brother, Joshua Chilcote who married Rebecca Arnold. William Stevens and Mary Chilcote named their children: John, Betsy, Rachel Arminta, Samuel C., Jesse and Mary "Polly". I descend from Mary Polly Stevens who married ARchibald Ankrom. In Ohio, William Stevens and Mary Chilcote Stevens lived close to George and Frederick Corrick, who both supposedly married daughters of Robinson L. Chilcote [Jemima and Persilla, respectively]. They also lived close to Samuel Robinson Chilcote Sr. - who was a son of Robinson L. Chilcote. So, Mary may have been living near her brother and 2 sisters. However, also living fairly close by was !
John Chilcote b. ~1796 and his wife Hester, who was the son of Joshua Chilcote and Rebecca Arnold. Someone who descended from Mary's Steven's sister, Rachel Arminta Stevens, has posted a picture of her and of one of her sons on the web and indicated that she was part Indian. The picture looks like this is true. I know there is talk of Indian heritage among the descendants of Joshua Chilcote and Rebecca Arnold, but was wondering if there are similar tales among the descendants of Robinson L. Chilcote and Betsy Wright. There were similar stories in my great grandmother's family. She was the grandduaghter of Mary Stevens. I've ordered a DNA kit to send in to an Indian heritage project. I have direct maternal line to Mary Chilcote Stevens so the mtDNA may answer at least part of the question. I'll post a followup later. Please let me know whatever you can about Robison L. Chilcote & his family. Because William Stevens & Mary had their first child in Indiana in abt 1820!
and Robinson L. was there, I am thinking there is a connection.

That is not my website and I do not know where the person who posted got the information that James Chilcote was Mary's father. I have not seen any confirming evidence. The picture link works on my computer if you click right on the little camera icon. However, if you send me your direct email - I can copy the picture from that website and then send it to you as an attachment.

My GGGG Grandfather was William Stevens b. 1790-1795, whose wife was Mary/Cynthia Chilcote b. abt 1800. I am trying to determine her parents. They lived near Eagle Mills, Hockiing Co. OH -starting with 1830 census. From information posted by others, Mary or Cynthia Chilcote was half or full-blooded Indian. Pictures of their daughter, Rachel Arminta Stevens b. abt 1825 [the older sister of my ancestor Mary Polly Stevens b. 1837] certainly look like she has Indian blood. Here is a link to her picture:
Does anyone know if Mary Chilcote could be a sister or niece to the John Chilcote who married Hester? William must have married her in about 1818/1819 as their oldest son John Stevens was b. abt 1819/1820. Interestingly, he was born in Indiana, but the rest of their children: Rachel Arminat b. 1824/25 Samuel C. b. abt 1825, Betsy b. 1825-1830, and Jesse b. 1834/35 were born in Ohio. Because they lived so close to John Chilcote & Hester, I thought there must be a close relationship. Their land was in the northeast area of Eagle Twp, on the border with Jackson Twp, of Vinton Co. near "Pretty Run".
I believe that William Stevens was related both the the James & Zachariah Stevens [brothers] who lived in the part of Athens Co that later became Elk Twp,, Vinton Co OH who came to OH from Loudoun VA and also to the line of Stevens who descend from Giles Stevens & Avarilla Picket [dau of ? Pickett and ? Heathcote] of Baltimore and the cousin Giles Stevens who married Nancy Tipton, served in Rev. War in Bedford Co PA/Huntingdon Co PA and whose descendants came to the Perry/Athens/Hocking/Fairfield Co area of Ohio. [Note the Heathcote who was Avarilla Pickett's mother likely related to the Heathcote who married Robinson Chilcote.] Still working on all the documentation of these theories. Any information apprecaited.
