Yes I know this family. I have corresponded with members of this family years ago. Are any of the pictures identified? I'm in the process of putting together a book on the Chilcote family and if these pictures are identified I could use them in the book.

Larry Hill, I don't know if you can help with this or not. An aged friend died recently and her maiden name was Chilcote. This is all I know of her family. Her father was William N.Chilcote and according to the 1900 federal census in Oregon he was born in Illinois Dec 1871. He is married to Rhoda and she was born in Missouri in 1877. Their children at this time are Violet J,, Raymond and Leland. In 1910 they now have additional children Guy, Florence, and what may be Clarice but looks like Clarence, the child is female. Although I cannot find additional census I know she also had a brother Jack, a sister Olivia (ollie) and her name was Ruth. To the best of my knowledge all children were born in Oregon. They also lived in San Diego. In later years several of the children lived in Washington state in and around Bellingham. Do you know this family? Here is my dilema. I have in my possesion all her (Ruthie) old family photos. There is no one here to claim them and I was hoping t!
o find family that might be interested in being given them. Looking forward to hearing from you. Carol

Thanks for the response.
What I do know is that Henry and Clarissa went to Dawson, OK to visit their daughter, Effie Ray Hill. He had kidney disease and died in Dawson. He is buried in the old Dawson Cemetery which is now in Tulsa. My grandfather, John Ray, was about 6 when his father died, but other sources have sited Henry's death as 1898, rather than 1893. My parents were at the cemetery in the 1980's and couldn't find his grave.

What I have been told, is that he died on the trail out west and is buried there. No other clues.

You are parially correct. William Riley Chester was born 12 May 18?? and died 14 Nov 1957. Nancy Ann Chilcote was born 22 Sep 1859 and died 6 Aug 1924. They were married 1 Dec 1875. Know nothing about any children.

I'm from Tracy; however, the Chilcotes didn't start the town. I have the centennial book with the history of Tracy. I am also the great granddaughter of Clarissa Abigail Chilcote, who was from Cass Co. MO. and her parents were Nancy Ann (Gregg) and John Chilcote from Cass Co. MO.

This may be a coincidence; however, I have a Wm. R. Chester, born 5-12-1860 married Nancy Jane Chilcote, born 9-23-1859, on 12-1-1885. They had four children, Manford, George, Bessie Belle and Effie. Wm. R. Chester is buried at Bethel Cemetery and Nancy Jane is buried at Bluff Creek Cemetery. I believe both are in or near Mahaska County Iowa.
