I have been researching my grandfather's line like, forever.
He WAS a disinfranchised Cherokee. His name was Elmer Thomas MILLER.
*
His great grandmother was
Nancy CHILCOAT (I get the spelling from the death cert of her daughter, Mary ANKR*M in 1912) Mary was born in 1832, Vernon OH.
Nancy was married to a Richard ANKR*M (I find spellings of ANKROM and ANKRUM both)
From family letters I find that Nancy CHILCOAT resided in an Indian Village in AR during the time of the civil war.
The letter mentioned was from my g'grandmother, Margaret J. "Maggie" MOORE, daughter of Mary ANKR*M.
It told of her staying there, along with her mother and siblings while her father, Henry House MOORE was in US Military service.
I am looking to share info and connect "the dots" so to say.
There IS an indian connection...no doubt.
Verbal family histories also confirm this.
Thank you,

Hi Larry,
Thank you!
OK... yes, I have a couple of questions. (Of course!) :)
I have been told (have not seen with my own eyes) that
on one of the census' (I'm not sure which one, for some
reason) that all the children are listed except for Nicodemus
and Mary Jane. I'm wondering if they died before this
particular census was taken. Do you have any information
about that?
> Lewis was married three times also.

Yes, I have his D/C..... he was my g-gf.
> Now you can ask me any question you want.
Do you have information that goes further back?
Do you know who Heathcote's parents were?
I found online that it says his father was Robinson
Chilcote.
I know about Leota because my grandmother
remembers her! She wouldn't allow the children
to call her "grandma" or any such thing. :)
I know people are sometimes offended to be
asked this, but I have to ask... what document-
ation do you have on this? If you have copies
of anything, would you be willing to share them,
via fax or email?
Thanks so much for your help!
How are you connected to this line, by the way?
Thanks, again....
Teri

Bud!
I'm very sorry! I forgot that I
had rec'd. that from you... it'd
gotten lost in the shuffle, so to
speak!!
There was one Heathcote that
looked compelling, but when I
look at the census records, they
show children being born to him,
*after* the one you're talking
about already died. (1858)
So, I don't think any of those Heathcotes
match up. :( Darn.... how many Heathcote
Chilcotes could there be that were married
twice, the first being to a Catherine??
Thanks for your help, Bud!
I'm thinking that someone else had responded,
too. Geez.... did I forget about their msg., also??
I better see if I can find anything!! :)
Teri
Hi,
Someone was going to send me
some information on Heathcote
and/or Lewis Chilcote, from Morrow
Co., OH.
Just wondering what happened with
that. ??
Thanks....
Teri
