HI,
There was a question raised re the birth date for Sarah Mackrel [McRill
etc.] the 3rd wife of John Chilcote born 1742 Western Run Md.
Here is what I have. Sarah was born 1757. Pa? The source I have is an
LDS print out of the ancestral file of Ben Mackeal {sp.} submitted by
Joyce Adams of No. Carolina.
Her alleged death date of 1809 in Fairfield Co. Ohio was obtained from
the Grace Adkinson [Waldron] file on file at the Ohio Gen. Soc.
If anyone has done work specifically on the Mackrill line I would
appreciate hearing from you. Thanks.

Hi Ron,
Hope you have a good day. What's the weather like? We are having a slow
drift into fall with 50 degree nites. I of course will keep you advised
on any developments on the site at Nankin. I'll wait for Rex to contact
me again. I think Rex is a Robinson Desc. He'll provide more later.
I haven't checked source for Sarah Mackerals YOB. Like Carey I'm a
little into data overload now trying to juggle 4/5 gen. lines. It is on
my to do list.
I printed out Carey's file with sm font size and it came to 61 pgs.
May I reiterate : If any one ever gets a hint as to where my Burge
ancestors came from prior to Hunt. Co. Pa. [ allegedly Md.] they will
get a gr. big computer hug from me. It's been a 30 yr. quest.
Bud

Thanks, Bud. Sorry for my confusion. I guess I just assumed that you went
back after speaking with Mr. Forbush. If you haven't actually eyeballed it
yourself, or gotten a report from someone you know and trust, then the name
is subject to dispute. History books, particularly local history books,
often contain as much opinion as fact. For that matter, even tombstone
inscriptions can be erroneous... {sigh}
I'm also not clear on how you connected with Rex Nelson other than it sounds
like Mr. Forbush was the go-between...

I'm sure you said that in jest, Bud, and it did strike me as funny initially
but I don't think I want to know badly enough to violate that person's
privacy. All an image would do is provide clues as to gender and
approximate age. It still wouldn't tell you who the person was and how to
contact him or her. I think a better idea would be to place a laminated
card, or some other weather resistant notice, containing contact information
at the site requesting that the mystery visitor contact you... If you don't
think your message could withstand a year's worth of weather, perhaps Mr.
Forbush has some approximate idea of when the new wreath is placed each year
and might place your contact request shortly before the visitor is
expected...

Heh heh heh Who's going to remind me to remind you? :) A few more months
of delving into old records and comparing others' data with mine and I may
not be able to remember my own birthday...

Great! I'm still using that LDS freebie, Personal Ancestral File, now up to
version 4.02.31, so I'll send a gedcom of all descendants of John III, 3rd,
or whatever, that was the father of the four or five brothers from whom most
of us seem to have sprung. If you detect any errors or discrepancies,
please bring them to my attention. If you have information where I do not,
please, please provide it to me. Even though my primary goal is to track
down all the Huntingdon County Chilco**s that just about everyone else,
except for a very few, seems to have neglected, I am interested in ALL
Chilco**s and their descendants and even ancestors and descendants of
spouses and their siblings.

Sure, Bud, the more the merrier! :) Thanks for everything.
HI Carey,
Thank you for your kind words re my email. I need to clarify one thing
though; I still have not seen the site and my descriptions were obtained
from the site owner and Rex Nelson. Even though I have not seen the
Elisha stone, the history book I have gives the inscription as Chilcote.
Elisha was married to aunt Martha [Patsy] Tucker June 07,1819 in
Richland Co. Ohio. He was born June 26, 1790 in Huntingdon Co. Pa. and
died March 12, 1854. My records say he died in Faifield Co. Oh. which
does'nt sound right. His parents were Sarah Makerel born 1774 in
Huntingdon Co. Pa. and married to John Chilcote b.1742 [the John of 3
wives]. They were md. in 1788 in Huntingdon Co. She died 1808/9 in
Fairfield Co. Ohio
Regarding the placing of the wreath; nobody knows. Sounds like a job for
web cam.
I'll give you Rex's email address when he gets it. If I forget perhaps
you could remind me.
By all means send me a gedcom or transfer via FTM so that as we enter
data we can make corrections and find errors. My wife, Joanne is my data
entry specialist and is smarter than me at spotting date and
relationship errors and "not possibles". Maybe it's a woman thing being
able to spot marriage, birth etc. discrepancies. A plus skill. We can
always add more data later. Rex has offered me a rom or cd of his data.
Which I hope to obtain when his computer is repaired.
Have a good day.
Bud.
PS: sometime back I received data from Frank and Brenda Youmans in
Indiana. I can give email address.
Hi Bud,
Thank you for sharing that excellent account of your visit to this nearly
lost Chilco** cemetery. I'm happy your trip was successful this year. Did
you take photos and are you able to scan them or have them scanned?
Was the name on the stone Chilcote or Chilcoat? You're not going to bruise
any feelings, Bud. There are all manner of Chilco**s out there and some of
them are related. In fact, I'm pretty sure I've got some of both varieties
in my background and I don't mean just the ones who's name seemed to change
nearly every census... Is this the Elisha whose parents were John Chilcoat
and Sarah McRill or Mackerel?
It would be interesting to find out who is placing the wreath and how much
family information the person has and is willing to share...
I'm interested in Mr. Nelson's information. Please give him my email
address when he gets back online, Bud, and let him know I'm willing to share
whatever I have with him.
Speaking of which, I finally got the glitch out of my database which was
causing my export problems so If either you or Ron would like to see what
I've cobbled together so far I'd be happy to share with both of you as well.
Just let me know whether you want the whole thing or a specific subset and
I'll get it off to you. The standard caveats apply, of course. Mine is
still a work in progress but I'm finding more stuff every week thanks to my
cousin Christine back in Huntingdon County, PA, who is able to do field
research for me.
Thanks again for the report, Bud...
Carey Chilcote
HI All,
I made the 2nd attempt in 2 yrs. to visit the Chilcote Cem. on the old
Cunningham Farm in Orange Twp. Ohio. Both times I found no one at home
on the property.
However,I obtained the owners phone # and called him. He said come
anytime even if he is not there. Anyone is welcome to visit the site.
There are about 7 burials in the cemetery but only two or three have
visible stones. They mark the graves of Elisha Chilcote who died Mar.
12, 1854 and the others mark the graves of two Cunningham infants.
Unfortunatly the Elisha stone was just damaged by a bull dozer
constructing a septic system. Elisha is written up in the history books
as one of the pioneers of Ashland Co. and I think, off hand, was born in
Huntingdon Co. Pa. One of the strange things about the cem. according to
Mr Forbush who owns the land is that someone places a wreath on the cem.
every year. Oddly enough, one week befor my visit a Mr. Rex Nelson had
visited the site. He has an interest in the cem. as his grandmother
was a Chilcote and left him a good deal of info. which he has put on
Family Tree Maker. I explained that we are just beginning to do the same
and he is going to provide me with his data; when his computer is
repaired. He knows Larry Hill and knew Bart Chilcote.
I suggested that probes be made to determine the extent of the cem. and
see if other graves can be found. Then a small metal fence, even with a
gate, could be installed. Finally a granite memorial installed with
names and dates of those buried there. A granite stone would last 1000
yrs whereas the present stones are becoming illegible since they have
been uncovered and exposed to acid rain. The present owner of the site
is quite respectful of the cem. and amenable to do whatever is required
to preserve it. Perhaps if enough people could be found to contribute?
Finally, Mr Rex Nelson has data on Chilcotes who went to Mo.,Va, W Va,
and the Carolinas if anyone is interested.
His address is 8489 Blachleyville Rd. Wooster, Ohio, 44691.
I will get his e-mail address when he gets his new one.
The location of the cem. is behind a barn at 671 Rte.601 Orange Twp.
