The farthest back I can trace my line is to a Henry Chidester, born around 1796, who I can first find listed in the 1820 Census in Northumberland Co., PA. He was married to a Sarah Cooper (or Kuiper) and they moved to Wayne County, Ohio by the 1830 census. Their descendants eventually spread to Ohio and Indiana. His children all list their father as being born in Pennsylvania (With the exception of a single census that lists England, but that seems like a red herring), but I haven't found any conclusive proof of birth date or location.
If anyone has any thoughts on how Henry may be linked to the other Chidesters (or Chitesters, or Chichesters, etc), I'd love to hear them.
