Francis Willis was born in Benton, Franklin County, Illinois in 1843. His mother was Jane Smith Chidester and in the 1850 census she listed Frank as Francis M. Richards. In the 1860 census she listed him as Francis M. Chidester. Francis served the union for ILL in 1861 and listed himself as Francis Marion Willis. His pension record has the name Willis as an "alias". Francis kept the name Willis and on March 17, 1869 in Richland County, Louisiana he married Althea Catherine Moore (Selman). Francis moved the family to Panola County Texas and he was in the Texas census from 1880 until 1910. He died about 1916.

Leander Scotland Chidester was a photographer in Albia, Iowa ... of which I have several pictures of Chidester family. Can someone tell me what years he had his photography shop?

I have a picture from the L. S. Chidester Photographer of Albia, Iowa. Name handwritten on the back says it is of George Chidester. I would like to confirm that this picture is of George, by contacting a relative.
George was born about 1869 to Samuel Floyd and Celestia/Lettie STEVENSON CHIDESTER. He married on 22 February 1893 to Myrtle MILLER. They had 2 sons ... Paul and Boyd. They had divorced by the 1900 census. George was a barber by trade.
Are you related?

A funeral notice for Anna Chidester Tharp that was in the pages of the Samuel Chidester bible, her father, stated:
"Mrs. Anna Tharp DIED near Raymond, Monday, August 31st, 1903 at 10 A. M., aged 81 years and 14 days.
The funeral will be held at the M. E. Church, Sterling, at 1:30 P.M. Tuesday, September 1st. All friends invited."
In the 1900 census of Raymond Township, Rice County, Kansas, she was living with her brother, William M. Chidester.
Her daughter, Sarah Columbia Tharp married a FISHER ... is anyone connected to this line?

Hi all,
Just so it doesn't appear I have been asleep at the switch, I have added a new Descendant Chart to the web page -- http://freepages.genealogy.roostweb.com/~chidester
This is a descendant chart for Julia Ann Boudinot Chidester and her husband, William C. Tucker. Betty Slovinski and I have been passing notes like freshman in a Comparative Philosophy class trying to get all of the pieces of this to fit. I think we have got a good deal of it in place from 1822 to 1930 and a bit bit beyond for the ones who have documented death information.
The related familes are : Tucker, Shivels, Oldham, Hahn, Westbrook, Williams, Albrecht, Keenan, Cotter, Byers, Doerr, and Rees.
There are a number of wives with no surnames and places where more information is needed. Please let me know if you see any obvious, or not so obvious errors. Or if anyone has additional information about the family, I will be very happy to add it to the file.
Have a good holiday,
John

Debra, you cannot immagine the excitement I felt when I stumbled upon your message in my own search. My ggrandmother was Henrietta Chidester Trigg married to Benjamin Franklin Trigg, my ggrandfather. I have a newspaper article of their youngest daughter's marriage: Ida May Trigg to Luther Fred Hillhouse, my grandparents, Marionville, MO. Henrietta and Benjamin had other children: Clarence, Bertie, Emma, George, Roy. An 1880 census shows a Benjiman Trigg listed in Missour with a birth date of 1853 in KY with death 2-9-1910. I know that my grandmother, Ida May was born in 1890.
I did not have the information of the names of Henrietta's parents names. Thank you for that. Is there any other information that you have on these families? I will be happy to share any information that I may have, which is not a lot because I am just getting started. Please feel free to email me direct. I would like to know more about you.
