Mary,
I'm happy to share with you what I know.Thelma and Elmer Chidester wrote a book on the Chichester's.They both died in the 1980's.Only a few of these books were published with most I believe going to family members. From what I understand the book has quite a few errors in it.Lois Chidester Salmans,2407 Holly Lane,Newport Beach,CA 92663,is a cousin of Thelma. She's been doing research on the family. She's 78 years old now but if you write her a letter asking for info Im sure she'd get back to you.
I've also spoken to Paul Volppe(volpppe(a)pyramid.net)he also has quite a bit of Chichester info.I believe he's writing his own book.
Another with info is John Harned(john(a)harneds.com)
I've been in touch with these people regarding my line which I believe came through MA or NY.
Is your Samuel related to the Chichesters who founded the town in New York state? If so they have an interestng web site.
Hope some of this helps you and feel free to write again if I can be of help.
GLEN
The Andersons are the folk I was referring to. Did they ever publish the book, and, if so, is it available to be purchased? I don't know to whom Tina A. Lowe was referring, but would like to know if it is the same. We Chichesters will be having our next reunion in 2002 and I would like to have any information possible in time for that.
My Chichester ancestors came into VA, in 1700 +/-, from England. Don't have anything on NY, but would bet they are connected. Thanks for the reply, looking forward to learning about the book. "B."
Mary,
Would you be refering to Elmer Anderson and his wife Lois as the folks in California researching the Chichesters. If so get back to me I might be able to help you.If you have any info on Chichesters from Long Island,NY @1750-1800 I'd be very interested.Talk to you soon and good luck.
