Seeking info on Baptist minister Rev. John Maxwell Chick (c1812-1889) of Wells, ME, and his first wife, Mary Adaline Spalding (1815-1846).
Rev. Chick moved his ministry and his family every few years, in New Hampshire from Warner to Peterborough, and then to Massachusetts from Ayer, to Grafton, to Groton Junction, to Woodville, Hopkinton and finally back to Ayer. He evidently had a very successful ministry, and was able to send all four of his sons to prep school, and two through Brown University.
Nevertheless, John and his father (whose name I don't know) reportedly were "insane" - presumably bipolar disorder (then known as "circular insanity") which John's son Edson suffered from.
His children were:
Dr. John Spaulding Maxwell Chick (1841-1882)
Edson Cummings Chick (1843-1915)
Isaac William Chick (1851 - )
Frank Samuel Chick (1855- )
Rev. John Chick died in Ayer MA in 1889 of "melancholy"
Does anyone connect with this family?
Thanks-
Chris

Sorry, it probably would make sense to give more info.
She was born 20th August 1878 and was married to Frank Alexander Chick. Thats the only information I have. From what I have already research, many of the family orginate from Portsmouth and Isl of Wight.
Thanks
