I regret my CHICK family as far as I can ascertain have no connection with
yours.......Charles Chick and family emmigrated to Michigan in the US in 1850
and his Brother John Chick and family to South Africa in 1853.....They and
their forebearers lived in Goudhurst and Kilndown as also other adjacent
villages in Kent, UK. I have no records of any other family members emmigrating to
the US at an earlier date.
Regards
Cyril Chick
Looking for information about William Chick. He was born in 1750, in
Hanover Co., VA I believe. He married Jane/Jean Ragland in 1776. Any
info will be greatly appreciated. I would especially like to prove or
disprove William Chick and Ann Wisdom as his parents. Thanks!

Thomas married Elizabeth possibly Cook, not Martin. This was an error on my part.

Abt Richard Chick, I'm with you, I don't think Richard was the father of
James, or any of the other Chicks. One of the customs back then was to
name the first son after the father's father, the second son after the
mother's father. My Mother was a Chick, and there were no Richards anywhere
in their family. (Another custom was to name the children after the
brothers and sisters.) I found a John in Va, who could have been James
father. He also fought in the Rev., and fought the Indians before that.
The description of him was he was 5"9, dark hair, fair complexion, but that
is all the info I have on him. M Meaders

King & Queen Co., VA. Most sites list Richard as James' father while others
list Robert. While viewing the names of James' descendants, I can find no
males named Richard though there are many named Robert. Is there anyone who
can shed light on this?

> I have seen various records relating to this James Chick/Cheek. Some say
he died in Orange Co., NC but he is listed in Knox Co., KY with sons James
and Silas (my ancestor)until about 1840. There seems to be considerable
confusion about James who married Martha Patty Estes or Estridge, his
children, wives and parents. I know that some of the children and
grandchildren went to Missouri as mine were in Boone Co. Mo. by 1850's.
Also, I can find no one in James' descendants who named their sons Richard
although many files list Richard as the father of James. Instead, I think
his father may have been Robert as many of the males in this family were
given the name of Robert. I find the names, James, John, Robert and William
but no Richard. Can anyone shed any light on this? I would very much
appreciate any imput.
